Maybe Tracy Macell Reed should have known that when trying to evade the Montgomery police, the last place he needed to be was in Selma.

That’s exactly where he went, though, in what turned out to be a futile attempt to avoid capture.

On the heels of its recent fugitive capture on April 24, the Selma Police Department once again located a suspect on the run and hiding out in the area.

On Thursday around 8 p.m., Selma police officers responded to a report of a suspicious person.

Public Information Officer Lt. David Evans said the officers found Reed, 24, on Highway 14 near the area surronding Marie Foster Road.

“Upon investigation and questioning, they discovered Reed was wanted in Montgomery for trafficking cocaine,” Evans said.

Officers arrested Reed and held him in the Dallas County Jail until Montgomery Police arrived Friday morning. “This was very good work by our patrol officers,” Evans said.

Officers Fred Walker and Harry Tubbs, along with detectives Mike Palmer and Tommy Buford, assisted in the arrest.

“Dispatcher Valerie Wagner was also instrumental in determining this was the suspect the Montgomery police were looking for,” Evans said.

Reed’s capture comes one week after another Mont-gomery suspect was found finding out in the Selma area. The previous fugitive was wanted in connection with nightclub shooting which killed one person and wounded two others.
