Rosetta B. Tabb, 74, of Marion, died Saturday, April 26, 2003 at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Mt. Olive P.B. Church in Marion Jct., with Pastor E. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Barley-Tabb Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, Willie James Barley of New York and James Barley of Chicago; nine daughters, Angie Jefferson of Birmingham, Delores Lyles, Gloria Jones, Jacqueline Worthy of Georgia, Mary Tabb-Smith of Michigan, Rosetta Vaughan, Alma Johnson, Anita Hogue, Melinda Tabb of Marion Jct.; one brother, James Lewis of Mckeyport, Pa.; two sisters, Julia Brown Mckeyport, Pa., and Lena Bell Johnson of Selma; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Active pallbearers are Eddie Dragg Jr., Antonio Barley, Mike C. Barley, Sean Barley, Willie Barley Jr., Tchiakowsky Tabb, Bobby Jefferson.

Honorary pallbearers are Terrell Dragg, Jarvis Bell, Telvin Smith, D.J. Thompson and San Williams.

Betty Weaver Mendenhall

Betty Weaver Mendenhall, 61, of Selma, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Yarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in Prattville Memorial Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Donnie Mendenhall of Selma; son, Ricky Weaver of Millbrook; daughters, Sheila James of Deatsville and Patty Hornsby of Selma; brother, Mike Turner of Destin, Fla.; sisters, Dorothy Hearon, Ann Hollingshead and Carol Sack all of Selma; grandchildren, Krintina Summerlin, Will Summerlin, Skyler Weaver and Natalie James.

Active pallbearers are Melvin Summerlin Sr., Bucky Summerlin, Trey Summerlin, Joe Hornsby, Jimmy Hagood and Josh Stokes.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Early L. Moore

Early L. Moore, of Selma, died Sunday, April 27, 2003 at his home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.

Tom Fields Jr.

Dea. Tom Fields Jr., 83, of Faunsdale, died Monday, April 21, 2003 at his home.

Services were at 1 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Hunter’s Chapel M. B. Church, Faunsdale, with the Rev. Robert Shepherd officiating. Burial followed with military honors in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Willie Sewell

Willie Sewell, 58, of Long Island, N.Y., formerly of Linden, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at St. Peter Baptist Church with the Rev. I. J. Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Larkin and Scott Funeral Home.

Sadie Oakes

Sadie Oakes, 96, of Sprott, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Chapel of Kirk Funeral Homes in Marion with the Rev. Sonny Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes of Marion directing.

Survivors include one brother, Bennett Oakes (Bernice) of Greensboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Miss Oakes was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Active pallbearers are Thomas Oakes, Glrn Oakes, Woody Oakes, Claude Anderson, John Anderson and Bobby Lawson.

Family visitation will be from 2-3 on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
