Maurine Lewis Poynter

Maurine Lewis Poynter, age 94, of Valley Grande died Tuesday April 12, 2005, at home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday April 16, 2005, at Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, Alabama officiated by Rev. Joe Wyatt and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Mrs. Poynter is survived by her son, Brian Brewer and his wife Betty of Valley Grande, two grandchildren, Janet Wilson and her husband Richard of Selma and Joyce Kennedy and her husband Roger of Louisiana; Great-Grandchildren, Shelly Wilson, Jessica Wilson, Quinn Kennedy, Erin Kennedy, and Devin Kennedy; one brother, Nathan Lewis of DeRidder, LA; two sisters, Agnes Hooper of Shreveport, LA, and Mary Foreman of DeRidder, LA.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jimmy Brewer.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Mattie Vera Timmons, 67, a resident of Beechwood, AL died Thursday, April 07, 2005.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church #1 with

Rev. James L. Price officiating.

Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Oneida O. Montgomery

Oneida O. Montgomery, 96, of Columbus, Ga., formerly of Selma, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at a nursing home in Columbus, Ga.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.

Minnie Bates, 54, of Newbern, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at a Greensboro hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Reynolds Chapel AME Church in Newbern, with the Rev. Hearsie McGhee officiating. Burial will follow in Carr & Bates Cemetery with Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing.

Jacqueline Hogue

Jacqueline Hogue, 43, of Marion, died Monday, April 11, 2005, at a Greensboro hospital.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Freewill Baptist Church in Marion, with the Rev. O.L. Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing.
