Jessie L. Dickerson Sr.

Jessie L. Dickerson Sr., 55, of Marion Jct., died Thursday, April 4, 2003, at his home.

Services were at 12 noon Saturday, April 12, at Union Grove C.P. Church, Marion Jct., with the Rev. George Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Shade Place Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Dickerson; father, Isiah Dickerson; two sons, Jessie (Crystal) Hunter and Jessie L. Dickerson Jr.; one daughter, Carolyn M. Ray (Ricky); two sisters, Shari Hunter, Sebrina Brown of Cleveland, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by one son and a sister.

Matthew Colvin

Matthew Colvin, of Hayneville, died Monday, April 7, 2003.

Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at the Original Shiloh P. B. Church with the Rev. Sammie Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Hayneville Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Eliza Poole-Eaton

Eliza Poole-Eaton, 63, of Demopolis, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at a Demopolis hospital.

Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at St. Paul M.B. Church, Demopolis, with the Rev. Charlie Moore and the Rev. John Kennard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery in Gallion, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Rosezetter Charleston-Hurns

Rosezetter Charleston-Hurns, 44, of Demopolis, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at Nazareth of Galilee Baptist Church, Demopolis, with the Rev. Jesse Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Mt.

Zion #2 Cemetery, Demopolis, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Francis &uot;Buck&uot; Long

Francis &uot;Buck&uot; Long, 63, of Selma died Friday, April 11, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, at Benton Baptist Church with the Rev. M.R. Bradley and the Rev. Henry Long III officiating.

Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his brother, Henry A. (Shannon) Long, Jr. of Birmingham; nephews, Henry (Charlotte) Long III of Birmingham, and Mark (Adrienne) Long of Birmingham; niece, Hope Long of Birmingham.

Active pallbearers include Fred Holladay, John Traylor, Cecil Lane, Tommy Lane, Mark Long and Ralph Norman.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Benton Baptist Church or favorite charity.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The family will also receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday.

Glennie Rudisill Rives

Glennie Rudisill Rives, 86, died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at the home of her daughter.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, at the Cathedral of Christ the King Episcopal Church C.E.C.

Graveside services will follow with the Rev. Charles W. Jones, Mrs. Rives’ son-in-law, officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two daughters, Amelia Rives (Bill) Jones, and Olivia Rives (Chuck) Jones of Selma; six grandchildren, Pamela Jones Cain of Selma, Angela Jones Williard of Birmingham, Christina Jones Marques of Enterprise, Olivia Jones Whiddon of Selma,

Woodruff Rives Jones of Selma, Charles Luke Jones of Selma; sister, Jerry Rudisill Zeigler of Selma; two brothers, Fulmer Milton Rudisill and Grady Tillman Rudisill, both of Hickory, North Carolina; seven great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Rives was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Oliver Woodruff Rives.

Mrs. Rives was born in 1916 in Safford. In 1934 she graduated from Dallas County High School and in 1938 received her RN degree from St. Margaret’s Hospital School of Nursing in Montgomery. Her nursing career was at the King Memorial Hospital, Old Vaughan Memorial Hospital and the Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Rives was the Dallas County Queen at the opening of the Edmund Pettus Bridge in 1940.

Active pallbearers will be her granddaughters’ husbands, Reid Stephen Cain, Gordon James Williard, Jr., Rhett William Marques, Brent Booth Whiddon, nephew Percy Reid Zeigler and James T. Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Jones, Sr., Earl Goodwin, O.P. Woodruff, Dr. P.C. DeBardeleben, and Dr. Todd Sherrer.

Mrs. Rives was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a member of The Cathedral of Christ the King Episcopal Church, C.E.C.
