Rosetta Jones Dokes

Rosetta &8220;Sister&8221; Jones Dokes, 73, of Orrville, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, at a Selma hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. M. J. Perryman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Hesikiah Dokes; mother, Beatrice Pair; two sons, Eligiah Jones and Rev. Robert Jones; five daughters, Betty Lakes of Detroit, Mich., Barbara Carson of Orrville, Christine Hardy of Selma, Herietta Jones of Selma and Hesilee Dokes of Orrville; four sons, Rev. Cleopha Pair Sr. of Mobile, Robert Pair, of Selma, Willie Pair of Mobile and Frank Johnson of Orrville; five sisters, Eva Bell and Sadie Draine of Mobile, Beatrice Draine of Orrville, Nellie Blackmon of New York City and Quiencella Montgomery of Selma; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sons-in-law; seven brothers-in-law; and five sisters-in-law.

Active pallbearers are nephews.

Mrs. Doles was a native of Perry (Center Felix) and a long time resident of Orrville. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Center Felix Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Carter, later moving to Orrville and joining New Bethel Baptist Church under the Rev. Jack Short.

Eleanor Washington

Eleanor Washington, 62, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Demopolis, died Monday, March 15, 2004.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday, March 26, at Morning Star Baptist Church in Demopolis, with the Rev. James Dunn officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with in Demopolis, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

The body will lie in state at the church beginning at noon on Friday.

Alvin McNeil

Alvin McNeil, 65, of Selma, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, in Selma.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 25, at Ellwood Community Church with Pastor Gary Lamar Crum Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one daughter, Alice McNeil; one son, Alvin McNeil Jr.; two sisters, Ophelia Williams of Canonsburg, Pa., and Carrie L. Greenleaf of New Britain, Conn.; two brothers, Nathaniel (Sylvia) McNeil of Woodbridge, Va., and David McNeil of North Carolina; and a sister-in-law, Alice McNeil of Selma.
