Herman Jackson Sr.

Herman Jackson Sr., 75, of Selma, died Monday, February 16, 2004, at his home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Mt. Zion P.B. Church with Pastor B. Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Lula Jackson; parents, Elijah Prince and Texanna Jackson; three sons, Tommy (Lula) Jackson of Selma, Herman Jackson Jr. of Detroit, Mich.,, Kenneth; four step-sons, Anthony Edwards of Selma, Derrick (Joy) Edwards of Birmingham, Pastor Louis B. Edwards of Valdosta, Ga., and James (Patricia) Ervin of Mobile; two daughters, Nancy Rembert of Mobile, Lady Jackson of Detroit, Mich.; four step-daughters, Brenda Edwards of Birmingham, Amy (Roosevelt) Marzette of Selma, Stephanie (Ronald) Menifee of Selma and Bonita (Calvin) Andrews of Birmingham; one brother, Willie Lee (Nell) Prince of Rochester, N.Y.; three sisters, Beatrice (Albert) McDole, Mary Prince and Doris Thigpen all of Selma; a host of nieces, nephews, grands, great-grands;; three daughters-in-law; brothers-in-law, James Harris Jr. of Mobile, special brother-in-law, Robert Harris (Yvonne) and Louie Lee (Grace) Harris of Mobile.

Active pallbearers are Kenneth Edwards, Derrick Edwards, Anthony Edwards, Chance Edwards, Roosevelt Marzette and Jeremy Fortune.

Julia Calhoun

Julia Calhoun, 74, of Selma, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Coley Chestnut officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four sons, Mike (Pamela) Sims, Malcolm Harris Calhoun Jr., Isaac Kelley Jr., David (Glenda) Calhoun; four daughters, Dianne C. Kennedy, Yvonne Calhoun, Deborah (Christopher Sr.) Beach and Paulette Calhoun; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; two sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; godson, Augustus McMullin of Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Calhoun, a daughter, Patricia Kelley,

one sister, Mary Lou Blanchard.

Active pallbearers are Alison Brown, Russell B. Brown, Calvin Calhoun. Johnny Calhoun, Kirk Carrington Sr. and Willie Bernard Ross Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Beach Jr., Johnny Calhoun Jr., Napoleon B. Calhoun and Demetrius Woods.

Annie B. Hale

Annie B. Hale, 91, of Minter, died Saturday, February 14, 2004.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, February 21, at G.W. Watts Elementary School with the Rev. Dr. C.C. Bradley officiating. Burial will follow n Zion Rest M.B. Church Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, at Zion Rest M.B. Church in Furman.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Zion Rest M.B. Church Building Fund.

Marquerite Brooks

Marquerite Brooks, 65, of Jones, died Saturday, February 14, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday. February 21, at Springhill Baptist Church in Jones. Burial will follow n the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include three sons, Larry (Denise) Brooks, Charles (Parmie) Brooks and Randy (Chinell) Brooks; four daughters, Mildred (Emanuel) Kent, Elaine Lawrence, Barbara (Michael) Harris and Shirley (Charlie) McCary; one sister, Earnestine (Jerry) Key; godmother, Evelyn Gordie; 23 grandchildren; one nephew; and a hosts of other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are sons and grandsons.

LaShondra Brooks

LaShondra Brooks, 18,, of Marion, died Saturday, February 14, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 21, at Marion Baptist Academy with the Rev. David Tuubbs officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include parents, Gwendolyn Brooks of Marion and James Brooks of Birmingham; one son, Ameri Tubbs; one brother, Derrick Brooks; two sisters, Tiffany Brooks and LaCretia Bates; grandmother, Amanda Lapsley; one nephew; four nieces; nine aunts; and a host of other family and friends.

Willie Means Jr.

Willie Means Jr. , 91, of Ft. Deposit, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004.

Services are at 12 noon Monday, February 23, at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennette and the Rev. Albert McCorvey officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery, Sandy Ridge, with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Henry Turner

Henry Turner, 65, of Palm Bay, Fla., died in Florida.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 21, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in New Shady Grove M.P. Church Cemetery in Sardis, with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Priscilla Turner; one son, Ron Turner; two brothers, Willie Turner and Alston Turner; two sisters, Sheila Morris and Josephine Jones.

Robert Lee Patterson Sr.

Robert Lee Patterson Sr., 65, of Montgomery, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 21, at Big Union Christian Church with the Pastor Timothy Silmon and Bishop Davis Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Rev. Robert Davis, 64, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Boligee, died Friday, February 13, 2004.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 21, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. William Branch officiating. Burial will follow the churchyard cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.

Betty C. Reaves

Betty C. Reaves, 68, of Camden, died Tuesday, February 17, 2004.

Graveside services are at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 21, at Reaves Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Lee officiating and Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her sons, Mitchell James Martin (Marita) of Grand Bay; and Kenneth W. Reaves (Alison) of Meshoppen, Pa.; daughters, Sherrill Thomas (Howard) of Montgomery and Susan McGuinness (Brian) of Round Hill, Va.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hilda Beltz, Dorothy Melvin (Jack) and Helen Pugh (Roy).

Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home,
