Julian Smith Blackwell

Julian Smith &uot;Smitty&uot; Blackwell, 52, of Tyler died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003.

Smith Thomas Irby Jr.

Smith Thomas Irby Jr., of Montgomery, formerly of Selma, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at New Harvest Church of Christ, 4701 Virginia Loop Rd, Montgomery, with Dr. Rodney Comer officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Cemetery with Cummings Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Brenda; two sons, Thomas O’Neil Miller and Brandon Thomas Irby; two daughters, Candra Alexis Irby and Kayla Renee Irby; five sisters, Jerryneta (Leonard) Evans of Dothan, Renetta (Linward) Barnes of Panama City, Fla., Marlene (Marcus) Smith of Montgomery, Lucy (James) Smith of Selma and Nadine (Richard) Smitherman of Panama City, Fla.; aunt, Queenesther (Capps) Grace of Montgomery; mother-in-law, Jeraldine Ware of Montgomery; supportive brother-in-law, Eric Ware of Los Angeles, Calif.; special friends, Charlie Walker and Charles Cato of Montgomery; special niece, Michelle Pope of Selma; loving church family; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Smith Thomas and Inez Irby.

Mr. Smith was raised in Selma and graduated from Selma High School. He moved to Montgomery after earning a BS form Troy State in computer science and a MS degree in computer and information science from Troy State University in Montgomery. He also did extensive study in mathematics at Auburn University, Montgomery.

He was a devoted employee with Alabama State Department of Transportation for 17 years. He received numerous awards and certificates for his outstanding job performance. His most recent assignment was that of programmer analyst maintenance support supervisor.

Willie Mae Jackson

Willie Mae Jackson, 54, of Uniontown, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, Feb. 15, at Quinn Chapel Church of Uniontown with the Rev. Arthur Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Goldman Hill Cemetery with Julia L. White Funeral Home directing.

Rosa Mae Kidd

Rosa Mae Kidd, 74, of Uniontown, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, at a Bessemer hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Julia L. White Funeral Home of Uniontown.

Sherman Sigler

Sherman Sigler of Tyler, died Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at a Birmingham hospital..

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.

Joseph Wheeler Casey Jr.

Joseph Wheeler Casey Jr., 51, of Selma, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at his home.

Graveside services are at 10:30 a.m.. Wednesday. Feb. 12, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. John Fain officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include mother and father, Barbara and Joe Casey of Selma; sons, Wheeler Casey and Vaughan Casey; daughter, Quinn Casey; a brother, Scott Casey; and a sister, Lisa Jewell.

Active pallbearers are Bill Casey, Charles Casey, Glenn Garrett, Dick Bradberry, Jack Callen, Ray Mathiews, Bob Moseley and Terry Henley.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.
