A Pioneer Electric Cooperative serviceman, responding to a power outage in Wilcox County, was fatally injured Monday when he was struck by a vehicle. The name of the employee, who worked out of Pioneer’s Selma office, has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The incident occurred about one mile north of the Highway 21, County Road 89 intersection near Carlowville and is under investigation by the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Department and Alabama State Troopers.

Pioneer’s Executive Vice President and General Manager, Malloy Chandler, said words cannot express the company’s loss.
