Georgia Ruffin Washington, of Selma, died

Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Richard C. Berry officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Memory Garden with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a loving husband, William Washington; a mother, Catherine Ruffin Cleveland; three daughters, Sonya Malone and Millicent Katts, both of Selma, and Tamake Malone of Houston, Texas; six sisters, Linda (Richard) Berry of Virginia, Beach, Va., Gwendolyn Cleveland, Constance (Herbert) Allen, Coretta (Anthony) Smith, all of Selma, Carolyn (Sidney) Harris of Atlanta, Ga., and Teresa Cleveland of Montgomery; three brothers, Ronald (Joyce) Cleveland of Hampton, Va., Charles Cleveland of Los Angeles,

Calif., and Alfred (Mary) Cleveland of Riverdale, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Willie Washington and Anthony Williams of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters-in-law, Mary Williams, Dorothy Watts and Allison Washington all of Selma; seven nieces, eight nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Washington was born Sep. 2, 1951, in Selma. She professed her faith in Christ at an early age and joined the Green Street Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. Dr. Charles A. Lett. There she was a member of the Youth Choir, Red Circle Girls and a member of the Sunday School.

She was married to William Washington for 11 years.

Georgia was educated in the public school system of Selma, graduating from R. B. Hudson High School in 1969. Later she attended Good Samaritan School of Nursing and Selma University.

Liddie Mae Platt Lutes

Liddie Mae Platt Lutes, 96, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Clemson Area Retirement Center. She was a native of Tupelo, Miss.

Services were held on Monday, February 2, 2004 at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, with Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central-Clemson Commons assisting the family with arrangements.

Survivors: daughter, Anita Fae Lutes Richardson and her husband Melvin K. Richardson of

Six Mile; grandchildren, William Frank Richardson and his wife Sarah Jones Richardson, Santa Clara, Calif., Kendrick Eugene Richardson and his wife Tara Tatum Richardson of Mt. Pleasant, SC.; great grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, Daniel, Elise arid Kate Richardson.

Mrs. Lutes, was the daughter of the late Jimmie D. and Thursday Ann Kitchens Platt.

C.W. Nelson, Sr

C.W. Nelson, Sr., 88, of Selma died Sunday February 1, 2004, at home.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Tate officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Katherine Sutherland Nelson of Selma; son, C. W &8220;Sonny&8221; Nelson, Jr. and wife Jobeth of Selma; stepdaughter, Sandy (Charlie) Harper of Paragould, Ark.: granddaughter, Jennifer (Michael) Gordon of Ocala, Fla.; grandsons, K.C. Nelson of Selma, Leslie (Christina) Nelson of Orange Beach, Dee (Jennifer) Harper of Lexington, Ky., Scott S. Palmer of Memphis, Tenn., Perry Harper of Paragould, Ark.; great-granddaughter, Grace Gordon of Ocala, Fla.; sister, Kathleen Nicholson of Titus.

Active pallbearers: Tim D. Tew, Joseph H. Hagood III, and nephews, Jeff Moore, Peter Moore, Chris Murchison, Darrell Murchison, Marc Murchison, Robert L. Potts and Jack M. Potts.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Board of Directors of the Dallas County Compress Co., Selma, Dr. Todd Sherrer, Dr. Caldwell Debardeleben and Dr. Ray Delp.
