David Burns Sr.

David Burns Sr., 69, of Selma, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at his home.

Services are at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. L. Fincher officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four sons, David Burns of Montgomery, Bryant (Mary) Burns of Birmingham, Billy (Verna) Burns and Kelvin

Burns of Selma; four daughters, Rossetta Burns, Aretha Burns of Selma, Ola (Tim) Morrow all of Maplesville and Margaret James of Amityville, N.Y.; three brothers, Danny (Pat) Burns of Birmingham, Robert (Josephine) Williams of Maryland and Dennis (Cynthia) Coleman of Montgomery; five sisters, Chanette (Terry) Craig, Juanita (Willie) Garret, Bessie Thomas, Marilyn Alexander all of Selma and Eula of Georgia; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; two daughters-in-law; eight brothers-in-law; eight sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives.

Active pallbearers are relatives and friends.

Mr. Burns was a maintenance man for All-Lock Co. in Selma for 42 years, until his retirement. He was a graduate of Wallace Community College in Selma with a degree in electrical engineering.

Bessie Mae Montgomery

Bessie Mae Montgomery, 73, of Selma, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Good Hope Baptist Church, Pleasant Hill with the Rev. John L. Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four daughters, Eula Patterson (William) of Birmingham, Lelia Montgomery and Pearl Towns (Henry) all of Selma and Jacqueline Montgomery; two brothers, Willie Ishman (Willie Mae) and Henry Ishman of Selma; six sisters, Georgia Lee (Zeb), Henrenia James, Lelia Fails (Charlie), Jenetta Fails (Ned), Susie Harrison (Sullivan) and Palestine Ishman all of Selma; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; special nephews, Ned Fails Jr. and Ernest Lee Ishman; faithful niece, Paulette Ishman; special little neighbor, Jeremy Hardy; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Montgomery, her parents, George and Susie Ishman,

three brothers and one grandson.

Active pallbearers are nephews.

Honorary pallbearers are deacons at Good Hope Baptist Church.

Mrs. Montgomery was a lifelong member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She served on the Missionary Board. She was employed as a C.N.A. at Warren Manor for 27 years.

Callie Bryant

Callie &uot;Kat&uot; Bryant, 93, of Selma, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at a local hospital.

Douglas Pope

Douglas Pope, 92, of Beloit / Marion Jct., died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at his home.

Edwina June

Edwina June, 74, of Crenshaw County, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Davenport with the Rev. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Jarion Lewis,

Jarion Lewis, 9, of Montgomery, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003.

Services are at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Macedonia Miracle Kingdom and Worship Center with Bishop Leo Lewis officiating and Bell Funeral Home directing.

Jermeaine McCall

Jermeaine &uot;Lamar&uot; McCall, 22, of Montgomery, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Hook Street Church of Christ with Bro. James Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Lily Baptist Church Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one daughter, Andrea Peters; mother, Juanita McCall and stepfather, James &uot;Big Daddy&uot; McCall; grandmother, Dorothy Perkins; brothers and sisters, Alvin (Willie) McCall, Angela McCall, Kelvin McCall, James McCall, Rodney (Daphne) McCall. Tommy McCall, Marcia (Christopher) Davis, Marion McCall, LaShonda (William) Benion, Benitex McCall, Sheila McCall; 12 aunts; three uncles; and a host of nieces and nephews; three devoted friends, Demetrius (Woosie) Woodard, Gilbert (Dino) and Dustin Peters.

Rachel Alexander

Rachel Alexander, 98, of Montgomery, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, Feb. 1, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Smith Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sinai Churchyard Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a daughter, Clara Jarrett and son-in-law, Frank Jarrett; two sisters, violet Jones and Marie Jones of Hayneville; 10 grandchildren, Fannie D. Lacy of Montgomery, Mary Alexander, Gloria (Dennis) Baker of Hayneville, Frank Jarrett Jr. of Montgomery, Silva (Willie) Harris of Detroit, Mich., Rosie (Milton) Lewis, Earnestine Alexander, Clara Alexander of Hayneville, Jennette (Freddie) Williams of Montgomery and Joe (Gwen) Alexander of Hayneville; 34 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.

Ola Morgan Lloyd

Ola Morgan Lloyd, 85, of Mobile, formerly of Dallas County, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home with the Rev. Ranny Cockrell officiating.

Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Valley Creek Cemetery in Selma with Radney Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, William Lloyd of Mobile; one daughter, Patricia (Timothy) Taylor of Sumter, S.C.; two sons, William (Barbara) Lloyd Jr. of Tampa, Fla., and Ronald Ll,oyd of Weston, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Rountree and Ada Bennette of Mobile; eight grandchildren, Michelle Lloyd of Weston, Fla., Chrissy Lloyd, Bryan Lloyd and Missy Lloyd of Tampa, Fla.; Patricia Jayroe, Ashley Taylor and William Taylor of Sumter, S.C., and Alan Fernandez of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.

Family visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lloyd was an active member of Sage Ave. Baptist Church and dedicated her life to being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
