Clinton Peeples Jr.

Clinton Peeples Jr., 25, of Jones, died Sunday, January 27, 2004.

Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 1, at Plantersville Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Clinton Peeples officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his parents, Clinton and Ruby Peeples Sr.; one daughter, Clinegiva Zashari Peeples; one sister, Glendora Moore; one brother-in-law; one niece, Deanna; one nephew, Obadiah; grandmother, Cora Edward; 18 aunts; nine uncles; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Donald Marvin Ward

Donald Marvin Ward, 78, of Selma, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at his home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Cal Holt and Frank Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Broadhead Ward; sons, Travis Justin (Carol) Ward of Birmingham and Walter Dale (Teresa) Ward of Selma; daughters, Donna Marvine (Dennis) Carson of Colorado Spring, Colo., Deborah Kay (Tim) Williams of Selma and Margaret Joan Ward of Selma; brother, Needham Earl (Pat) Ward of Coatopa; sister, Ethelda Marvine (Robert) Jones of Greensboro; sisters-in-law, Dean Ward of Thomaston and Elizabeth Lindsey of Linden; brothers-in-law, Charles Broadhead of Selma, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Anthony of Marion Jct. and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Broadhead of Jones; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers are Cpl. Stephen Anthony Brzuska, PA4, Donald Charles Brzuska, Christopher Paul Rooks, Jonathon Bradley Ward, Davis Allan Ward and John Lucus Clark.

Family visitation will be from 6- p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Frank James Quarles

Deacon Frank James Quarles, 73, of Birmingham, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004.

Services are at 12 noon Wednesday, January 28, at Bryant Fountain of Love Baptist Church in Birmingham, with the Rev. Alfonzy Bryant Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Carver Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Smith and Gaston Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Katie Louise Quarles; two daughters, Karen Sabrina Quarles and Lawanna Quaries; three sons, Michael Quarles, Markette Quarles and Reginald Quarles; four uncles, Jerry Quarles, Robert Quarles, Greel Quarles and Albert Quarles; six aunts, Mamie Quarles, Eula Chandler, Ethel M. Coleman, Rutha Mae Nance, Authurene Williams and Ruby Rochelle; two brothers-in-law, Charles Kendrick and Richard Kendrick; one sister-in-law, Mary Daniels; and a host of grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Julia L. Hall, brother, Earnest L. Cowine and son, Frank James Quarles Jr.

Mr. Quarles, was born August 7, 1930 to Melvin Quarles and Claudia Mae Coleman in Dallas County.

He confessed to Christ at an early age. He was a chartered member of the Bryant Fountain of Love Baptist Church for 17 years under the leadership of the Rev. Alfonzy Bryant Jr.

Judith West Booker

Judith West Booker, 85, of Selma, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at a local hospital.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Ira Blanchard officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include brother, Jessie &8220;Mott&8221; West of Selma; sister, Ladey Kent (Bob) Zetwick of Walhalla, S.C.; sister-in-law, Eva Jo Booker of Selma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers are Lynn McAfee, Tommy King, Bobby Zetwick, Jimmy Zetwick, Marty Vice, Wes King, Jason King and Scott King.

Honorary pallbearer is Keith McAfee.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to made to Pisgah Presbyterian Church.

Willie Ishman

Willie Ishman, 81, of Selma, died Tuesday, January 31, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at Selmont Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Demus Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, Minter, with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Ishman; four daughters,m Willkie Ann (James)Clark of Birmingham, Callie Mae (Joe) Wilson, Susie Ann (Henry) Chandler and Sandra Ishman of Selma; six sisters, Georgia (Zeb) Lee, Henrietta James, Lela (Charlie) Fails, Jeanette (Ned) Fails, Susie (Sullivan) Harrison and Palestine Ishman all of Selma; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers-in -law; seven sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friend, Mary Poindexter of Jackson, Miss.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Susie Ishman and two children.

Mr. Ishman was born on Feb. 24, 1922. He confessed Christ and jlined Hopewell Baptist Church in Minter. Later moving his membership to Selmnt Community Baptist Chrch, where he served as a deacon until his health failed. He married Willie M. Brown in 1952 and seven children was born to this marriage.

Sadie Anderson Hill

Sadie Anderson Hill, 81, of Selma, died Friday, January 23, 2004, at a local nursing home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at the Chapel of J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. John L. Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one nephew; three nieces; and other relatives.

Viola Hunter

Viola Hunter, 82, of Selma, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004.

Services are at 12 noon at Beloved Apostolic Church. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Levert Edwards Sr.

Levert Edwards Sr., 67, of Marion , died Monday, January 26, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, January 31, at Marion Baptist Academy with the Rev. George Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Kynard Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae Levert; son, Levert Edwards Jr.; daughter, Ira M. Fairley.

Ola B. Polnitz

Ola B. Polnitz, 88, of Orrville, died Wednesday, January 21. 2004.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 29, at Sandridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Milton Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include five sons, Walter (Doris) Polnitz, James (Bernice) Polnitz Jr., Wendell Polnitz, Theo (Cherlynn) Polnitz and Edmond Polnitz; four daughters, Bettie (Wesley) Wade, Carrie (Columbus) Baker, Emma (Johnny) Welch and Mildred (Ronald) Polnitz-Baker; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Charles Sykes

Charles Sykes, 40, of Selma, died Thursday, January 29, 2004, at a local hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.

Madie Ree Ingram Watts

Madie Ree Ingram Watts, 73, of Camden, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday, January 30, at Bible Baptist Fellowship Church with the Rev. Tommy Primm and the Rev. Don Newton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with Duklin-Herndon Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include sisters, Mabel Lee of Marion, Madell Prentice of Brent, Nellie Randolph of Centreville and Gail Lowery of Fairfield; bothers, Willard Ingram of Selma and Horace Ingram of Byron, Ga.; special friend, niece, Marla Griffin of Marion.

Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her husbands, George Langford and Henry Watts, sons, Jerry Langford, Larry Langford and Joe Alvin Langford, parents, Horace and Ellie Ingram, brother, Alvin Ingram and a sister, Annie Ingram.

Family visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service.

James Edwin Hord

James Edwin Hord, 90, of Camden, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004,

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31, at Camden ARP Church with Pastor Henry Lewis Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Camden Cemetery with Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Jones Hord of Camden; daughter, Bettie Hord Burger of Marietta, Ga.; sons, James Edwin Hord Jr., of Panama City, Fla., Robert White Hord of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Jacob George Hord of Memphis,

Tenn.; sisters, Carolyn Harris of Nashville, Tenn., and Mary Frances Cothran of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandsons; and nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to a favorite charity.

Johnny G. Lucy

Johnny G. Lucy, 59, of Dixons Mills, died Thursday, January 22, 2003, at a Mobile hospital.

Services are at 12 noon at El Shaddai A.O.H. Church of God, with Elder Gregory Lucy officiating. Burial will follow in Polly Robinson Cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.

Mary Mullen

Mary Mullen, 94, of Demopolis, died Monday, January 26, 2004, in New Jersey.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at Evening Star Baptist Church, Gallion, with the Rev. Floyd James officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

The body will in state at the church beginning at 12 noon.

Sam Sanders

Sam Sanders, 79, of Demopolis, died Sunday, January 25, 2004, at a Greensboro hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31, at the Chapel of Larkin and Scott Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.
