Tyler L. Walters

Infant Tyler L. Walters, 3 weeks, of Montgomery, died Sunday, January 11, 2004, at a Montgomery hospital.

Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Mt. Mariah Baptist Church Cemetery in Tyler, with the Rev. Lee Green officiating and J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his parents, Leshunda Green and Ronnie Walters; two brothers, (twin) Tyree Walters of Montgomery and Rondarius Sanders of Selma; grandparents, Leola Green, Lee (Raquel) Green Jr., Rose (Walter) Williams and Ronnie Mason Georgia; four uncles, Lee Andrew Green III, Brandon Martin, Cribarie Williams all of Selma, and Alexis Walters of Huntsville; three aunts, Sikya Williams, Ronneshia Mason and Alexia Green all of Selma; great-grandmothers, Juanita Williams, Julia Green, Marquerite Woods and Gloria Jean (Henry) Mason all of Selma; one great-great-grandmother; Minnie Gulcrist of Selma; godparents, Greg and Cynthia Scott of Montgomery; special cousin, Ar’Laijah Murray; and a host of great aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Louis D. Miller

Louis D. Miller, 51, of Selma, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at a local hospital.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 15, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Carroll Plourde SSE officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivor include one son, Louis Miller Jr. of Birmingham; two daughters, Paulette (Derrick) Bell of Birmingham and Tyesha Miller of Detroit, Mich.; brothers, Randall (Betty) Miller and Melvin (Edwina) Miller of Selma; four sisters, Bernice Miller, Audrey M. Smith of Selma, Evelyn (William) Wilson of Dayton, Ohio and Brendolyn (Warren) McKenna of New Orleans, La.; two grandchildren, Louis Armstrong of Selma and Christopher Bell of Birmingham; one son-in-law; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; 10 nephews; and four nieces; and a special friend, Dorothy Riddle of Selma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben J. and Christine R. Miller

Active pallbearers are Ernest Harrell III, Frank McDaniels, Jai Miller, Melvin Miller Jr., David McKenna, Charles Smith II, Walter Logan and Carl West.

Leon A. Shelnutt

Leon A. Shelnutt, of Arlington, Va., formerly of Wedowee, died on January 7, 2004.

Memorial services are at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 17, at the Arlington Funeral Home on at Interment at Arlington National Cemetery.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Emily and two children, Steven Shelnutt of Arlington, Va., and Suzanne (Shelnutt) Matonek, of Montclair, Va.; and two grandchildren, Bryan and Stephanie Matonek.

In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to the Washington and Lee High School Education Fund, 1300 N. Quincy St, Arlington, Va. 22201.

Mr. Shelnutt was a LtComdr in the Navy during World War II and retired as a Senior Foreign Service Officer with assignments in Germany, Hungary, and Sri Lanka.

Upon his retirement, he worked for the Arlington County School System as an educator until May 2003.

Vada Griggers Little

Vada Griggers Little, 89, of Greenville, died Tuesday, January 13, 2004.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 15, at the Chapel of Dunklin Herndon Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Bingham officiating. Burial will follow in Kervin Cemetery with Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Merdice Little of Greenville; nieces and nephews, Robert Bates, Joe Bates, Shannon Oswell, Lisa Blackwell, Teresa Green, Ronnie Morgan, Donnie Morgan, Eugene Cooper, Tommy Harper and Jeiel Harper.

Mrs. Little was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Icy Bates and her brother, Willard Bates.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Ida Harrison

Ida Harrison, 89, of Selma, died Tuesday, January 15, 2004.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 15, at Ebenezer Cemetery in Stanton, with the Rev. Al Finch officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a son, William Calvin Harrison of Sprott; a daughter, Polly Harrison Mitchell Perry of Selma; grandchildren, Richard Harrison of Mobile, Randy Harrison of Florida, Nancy Troha

of Selma, Linda Irwin of Prattville, Connie Weaver and Melissa Kenan both of Birmingham and Sandra Mitchell of Selma; and brother-in-law, Grady Harrison of Maplesville.

Active pallbearers are David Weaver, Jim Kenan, Edward Paulk, Ben Irwin, Randy Harrison, Willard Hambrick and Bobby Hambrick.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Eddie Lee Blue Sr.

Eddie Lee Blue Sr., of Dublin, Georgia, died Saturday, January 4, 2004.

Services were at 12 noon Saturday, January 10, at CD Dudley Memorial Chapel with Bishop K. Blue officiating. Burial followed in Dudley Memorial Cemetery in Dublin, Ga.

Survivors includes one son, Eddie Lee Blue, Jr. of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters, Tonia Shelton and Tomekia Blue of Selma; one son-in-law, Clarence Shelton; seven grandchildren, Tia’Yanna Shelton, Ty’Keyia Shelton, Tera Blue, Denzel Blue, Clarence Blue, Anthony Rhodes, and Shamekqua Rhodes; three brothers, Bennie Blue, Roosevelt Blue, and Henry Lee Blue, Jr.: two sisters, Ruby Blue Smith, Annie Pigatt; one sister-in-law, Margie Gains; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.

Mr. Blue, was born on July 28, 1943 in Bartow, Fla. He was the last of eight children born to the late Pealie Mae and Henry Lee Blue Sr.

He worshiped at Full Gospel Holiness Church where he received his spiritual up lifting and acceptance of Christ into his life.

Eddie met and married Nancy Bennett “His only true love” on May 15, of 1970, three children was born to this union. Mr. Blue, served his country for many years before receiving an honorable discharge.

Mr. Blue was a man of many talents and colors one who was always willing to help others in any way that he could.

He was known to be very loving and caring towards the people that he considered friends and family.

With a youthful personality he always brought joy and knowledge to those who surrounded him especially the children; he loved educating the children.

Active pallbearers are family and friends.
