Saints pick up big win

Selma High 53

Carver 50,

The Selma high Saints defeated the Carver Wolverines in a nail biter Tuesday night 53-50. With the win the Saints improve their record to 10-5 overall and 3-2 in the area.

The game was close all the way through with Jai Miller hitting the winning shot with six seconds on the clock.

Jai Miller led the Saints picking up 18 points . Miguel Harris picked up 13 points on the night, and Robert Allen finished with seven. Brandon Davis had a good game for the Saints also, and he finished the night with six points.

The Saints take on the Keith High Bears Friday night in Orville.

Bibb County 88 Dallas County 65,

The Dallas County Hornets fell to 6-8 on the year after they suffered a heartbreaker to Bibb County Tuesday night 83-65.

Morgan Academy 68

Pike Liberal Arts 40,

The Morgan Academy Senators picked up their ninth win of the year Tuesday night 68-40 in a blow out fashion.

The Senators led the whole game, and never were in danger of losing. At the end of the the first quarter the Senators led 22-8, and at the end of the first half had pulled out to a 45-15 lead.

Leading the way for the Senators was Jeremy Smith and Rick Brignac with 12 points. Allen Calloway finished the night for the Senators with 10 points, and five rebounds.

Central Christian 47 Marion Academy 34,

The Central Christian Warriors picked up their third area win of the year Tuesday night defeating Marion Academy 47-34.

The Warriors held a slim19-14 lead at halftime, but came out strong in the second half to pull off the big win.

The Warriors were led by Jamie Parker with 13 points. Chris K. Poe made a big difference down the stretch picking up 11 points, and 16 rebounds.

Marion Academy was led by Thomas Fowler with 11 points.

Central Christian will travel to Greenville Friday night.

Wilcox Academy 52 Marengo Academy 34,

The Wilcox Academy Wildcats took on the Marengo Academy Longhorns Tuesday night in Camden. The Wildcats are 5-5 on the year, and had little trouble with the Longhorn winning big 52-34.

The Wildcats were in control throughout the game, and got off to a big early lead going up 15-3 at the end of the first period. The Wildcats were up 28-7 at the half, and cruised on to an easy victory.

Michael Riggs led the way for the Wildcats putting up 16 points in the win, and pulling home nine rebounds. Bain Henderson finished with nine points, and Brad Philpot picked up seven points in the win.

The Wildcats will take on Patrician on Thursday night in Camden in what should be a good game.

Morgan 54

Pike Liberal Arts 21,

The Morgan Academy Lady Senators took on Pike Liberal Arts Tuesday night at home, and they picked up the big win 54-21. The Lady Senators remain undefeated with a record of 11-0 and are 1-0 in area play.

Leading the way for the Lady Senators was Emily Johnson with 15 points, and seven rebounds. Mallory Jones picked up nine points on the night, and Blaire Wood had eight points and four rebounds in the win. Sarah Wood had seven points and seven rebounds, and Hayden Casey finished strong with four points, seven rebounds and three assists. Laura Morris had five points and three steals.

Elizabeth Elliot and Mary Catherine Morris both had outstanding defensive performances on the evening.

The Lady Senators will travel to Hooper on Friday night to take on the Hooper Academy Lady Colts.

Meadowview 51 Southern 50,

The Meadowview Christian Lady Trojans pulled off the close victory against Southern Academy Tuesday night barely edging them 53-50.

The game was close all the way down the stretch with the Lady Trojans playing the final minutes of the game without their leading scorer Haley McIntyre.

Leading the way for the Lady Trojans was Haley McIntyre with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks. Sheena Steward finished the night with 19 points, and Elise McIntyre finished the night very strong for the Trojans

The Lady Trojans improve their record to 7-6, and will travel to Tuscaloosa Friday night to take on Tuscaloosa Academy.

Marion Academy 26 Central Christian 24,

Junior Varsity Girls

Pike Liberal Arts 28, Morgan Academy 21,

The Morgan Academy Junior Varsity girls took on Pike on Tuesday night at Morgan, and were defeated 28-21 in a close game. The J.V. girls fell to 2-3 on the year.

Leading the way for the Senators was Allison Peak with 11 points, and four rebounds. Kaiser Youngblood finished the night with six points and four rebounds, and Cursey Oaks had two points, five rebounds, and two assists on the night.

Junior Varsity Boys

Carver 64

Selma High 58,

The Selma High J.V. Boys dropped their first game of the year Tuesday night losing to the Carver Wolverines 64- 58.

The Saints were led by John Daily with 16 points, and Robert Childress finished the night with 14. Edgar Brown picked up 13 points in the loss.

The Saints travel to Keith Friday night to take on the Keith High Bears.

Morgan Academy 46

Pike Liberal Arts 17,

The Morgan Academy J.V. Boys took on the Pike Tuesday night at home, and picked up the win 46-17.

The Senators were led in scoring by Ben Calloway with 10 points, and Jeremy Smith finished up the night with nine points. John Pate finished up the night with six rebounds.
