Mellie Hicks McAfee

Mellie Hicks McAfee, 83, of Selma, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at a local nursing home.

Services were at 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Smith officiating. Burial followed in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Lindsey (Brenda) McAfee of Selma; one daughter, Brenda (Butch) Sluschewski of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; one grandson, Keith McAfee of Selma; three granddaughters, Denise (Marty) Vice of Selma, Lindy (Mike) Tano of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Angela Wildinger (Evan) of St. Louis, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Lindsey Vice of Selma and Mackenzie Tano of Ft. Walton, Fla.; a brother, Leon (Lunis) Hicks of Lawley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers were Bob McAfee, Alton McAfee, William McAfee, Mike Tano, Marty Vice, James Hathcock, Kenny Hicks and Bobby Crocker.

Honorary pallbearer was Keith McAfee.

Ora Mae Royster

Ora Mae Royster, 90, of Marion, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 at her home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. John Glasgow Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes of Marion directing.

Survivors include three sons, Clarence Royster Sr., Richard Royster and Pete Royster; four daughters, Elsie Johnson, Christine Lawson, Geraldine Skinner and Shirley Hobson; one brother, R. V. Nichols; two sisters, Mildred Fancher and Gertrude Davis; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers are Clarence Royster Jr., Stanley Skinner, James Hughey, Mark Royster, Randal Skinner, Brad Hobson, Jonathan Royster, Eugene Royster and Benjie Royster.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Homes of Marion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund, Rte. 2 Box 176, Marion, AL.
