Rico Marcel Irby

Rico Marcel Irby, 24, of Montgomery, died Thursday, December 11, 2003, in Selma.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 18, at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathaniel Parker officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his fiance Angela L. Caston; his mother, Lena M. Irby; step-son, JeQuan C. Gaston; step-daughter, Jhalynn Na’Kia Gaston; one sister, Cassandra Irby; one nephew, Kendarius King; grandmother, Deedie Irby; aunts, Nellie L. Tensley of Inkster, Mich., Mary Irby of Indianapolis, Ind., and Alma Irby of Belleville, Mich.; uncles, Sam Irby of Brooklyn N.Y., and Oliver Irby of Atlanta.

Active pallbearers are family and friends.

Shelia Delaine Smith

Shelia Delaine Smith, 43, of Jones, died Friday, December 12, 2003.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 18, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Pastor Charles L. Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Figtree Cemetery in Jones, with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one daughter, Shenika Nicole Smith; five brothers, Columbus (Sherry) Howard of Columbus, N.J., James (Crystean) Howard of Selma, Charles (Ruth) Howard of Prattville, Grady (Julia) Howard of Jones, and Daniel Harris; seven sisters, Mae Francis Pickett, Georgia Burrell, Sadie (Calvin) McGhee all of Selma, Lula Walker of Birmingham, Angela Smith of Jones, Annie Lee (Vernon) Sheppard of Jones and Willie Lee Gonstead of Chicago, Ill.; a host of nieces, nephews; special uncle, Richard Howard of Jones; a devoted friend, Mattie Walker of Selma.

Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie W. Howard, father, Ocie Smith, and brother, Gene Earl Smith.

Bernice Vick Middlebrooks

Bernice Vick Middle-brooks, of Selma, died Saturday, December 13, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, at the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Father Mark Vincent and the Rev. Bob Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four daughters, Phyllis Middlebrooks of Selma, Brenda (Stephen) Curran of Omaha, Neb., Terri (Murray) Austin of Selma and Arlene Hornfeck of Huntsville; one brother, Aubrey Vick of Greenville; three sisters, Beatrice Jackson of Troy, Addie Brightwell Greenville and Thelma Meredith of Troy; five grandchildren, Kimberly Curran, Patrick Curran, Thomas Austin, Amy Austin and Brooke Hornfeck. Special friend and extended family, Andrew Hornfeck.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sam Saliba and Wiregrass Hospice.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, at Selma Funeral Home.

The family will accept flowers, but donations to the American Cancer Society, or Wiregrass Hospice in Mrs. Middlebrooks honor are welcomed.
