Delia D. Williams

Delia D. Williams, 93, of Dallas County, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003, in Selma.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 13, at New Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Dozier officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include stepdaughter, Edith M. (Wylie) Crum of Thomasville; Mary Norton of Fairburn, Georgia and Ethel Norwood of Minneapolis, Minn. who she reared as daughters; six nephews and three nieces, Joe and Willa Johnson, Esther (Willie) King and Vera Moore- caregivers all of Selma; and a host of other relatives and friend.

Mrs. Williams was born on November 24,1905 to Eli and Mattie Darden in Selma, Dallas County. She became a Christian at an early age and joined the Macedonia Baptist Church. She received her education from Selma public schools and received a degree from

Alabama State Teachers College. She retired from the Dallas County School System in 1971.

She was as affiliated with the Phyllis Wheatley Chapter O.E.S., Friendly Sister and Brother Society, Retired Teacher Association and the National Education Association.

Symantha James

Symantha James, 82, of Alberta, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, December 13, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. L.L. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include five sons, Lee Earnest, Claude James, Danny James, Robert James, James D. James; five daughters, Olivia Henry, Lola Moore, Fannie Coleman, Pinkie James and Helen Moore; 31 grandchildren; 50 great-great-grandchildren; four sons-in-law; and four daughters-in-law.

Steven Latrell Smiley

Steven Latrell Smiley, 20, of Selma, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2003, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, with the Rev. John Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include loving and devoted parents, Glovene Smiley and Joe Louis Bridges both of Selma; three brothers, Stacey Smiley Sr. of Cleveland, Ohio, Andrew Levins Jr. of Selma and Andre King of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, twin sister, Stephanie Smiley, Lorraine Levins and Alisha Sims all of Selma; loving and devoted grandmother, Ethel B. Smiley; special god-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ocie Courtland all of Selma; four nephews; two nieces; 11 aunts; and 9 uncles; two special cousins, Brandon and Kelisha Thomas; a host of foster sisters and brothers, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are friends and family.

Eddie L. Richardson

Eddie L. Richardson, 67, of Selma, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at his home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 13, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

William Lewis

William Lewis, 98, of Selma, died Sunday, December 7, 2003, at a nursing home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 13, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. George Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Lily Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, Edward Lewis and Clifton (Pearl) Lewis; one daughter, Rosie Gibbs; brother-in-law of Emma T. Davis and Robert Lee Gardner; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.

Pearlie Mae Johnson

Pearlie Mae Johnson, of Tyler, died Friday, December 5, 2003, at a local hospital.

Graveside services were at 12 noon Thursday, December 11, at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Gregory Williams officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include eight nieces, a very devoted niece, Pearlie (Sonny) Burden, Zola Myles, Ruby Nelson, Laura Wilmer, Carol Perkins, Barbara Perkins, Lucy Lee and Daisy Dixon; three nephews, Eddie Perkins, Johnny Perkins and Robert Perkins; one brother, Frank Crosby of Selma; two sisters, Julia Green of Selma and Willie Nell Williams of Birmingham.
