Temperatures are dropping &045;&045; and what do people need? More winter clothing as well as gas to heat their houses.

J.C. Penny Manager Mike Breipohl says he has seen more customers coming into his store buying winter clothing lately, an increase which he said is not unexpected.

Alabama Power Spokeswoman Jan Ellis said that power is not usually affected during cold weather spells.

For most, gas bills increase during the cold season.

Alagasco Spokeswoman Susan Delenne said that gas conservation as well as safety is important during the cold spell.

Delenne also said that during winter time, furniture should also be rearranged, being moved further away from vents.

She also recommended that during cold spells, after sunlight has passed through the window for a period of time, that drapes should be kept closed in order to conserve heat.
