Johnnie Mae Olds

Johnnie Mae Olds, 90, of Selma, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 12 noon, Saturday, December 6, at Salem Primitive Baptist Church, Orrville, with the Rev. Lee Green officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Lewis Brothers funeral Home directing.

Survivors include, one goddaughter, Virginia (William) Kendricks of Orrville; four brothers, C. W. (Addie Lee) Riddle of Selma, John (Gertrude) James, Aaron (Pearl) James, Henry (Rosa) James all of Cleveland, Ohio; four sister, Ethel Fails and Annie Fair, both of Mobile, Laurene Brown of Bedford Heights., Ohio and Lucy L. James of Orrville; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are nephews and friends.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, 11 a.m.-12 noon.

Marie Smith

Marie Smith, 56, of Dallas County, died Thursday, November. 27, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 6, at Sunny Acres Church of Christ with Bro. W.E. Jack Beeman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two son, Tyrone (Teresa) Smith and Johnny (Catherine) Smith of Selma; three daughters, Gloria (Kelvin) Gibson, Georgia (John) Jones and Jacqueline (Dexter) Peoples of Selma; five brothers, R.B. (Maude) Acoxx of Oakland, Calif., Herman (Roxanne) Billingsley of Fairfield, Calif., Eddie James (Mamie) Billingsley, Johnny (Cora) Billingsley of Selma and Walter (Rose) Billingsley of W. Palm Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Bessie McEveen of Inkwood, N.Y., Arlene (Robert) Hardy of Selma, Louise Jackson of W. Palm Beach, Fla., and Alma Shaw of Alabaster; and 21 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends; one aunt Rosa Jones of Selma.

Cameron Deon Kirksey

Infant Cameron Deon Kirksey, of Selma, died Saturday, November 29, 2003, at his home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday, December 5, at the Chapel of J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Letha Rumph officiating. Burial will follow in the Kirksey Family Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his brothers, Anthony, Justin and Kevin Kirksey of Selma; three sisters, twin sister, Camille, Brittany and Candice Kirksey of Selma; grandparents, Pamela McWilliams and Jessie Thomas and Barbara and Sherman Jackson; one aunt, Victoria Wilson; six uncles, Arlis Wilson, Sherman Wilson, Tracy Jackson, Freddie Jackson, Rodriques Jackson and Xavier Jackson; great-grandparents Odessa and Freddie Jackson; three great-aunts, Roberta Jackson, Martiel (McKinley) Parker and Marcia (Tony) Staten; and four great-uncles.

Tomika D. Starks

Tomika D. Starks, 27, of Orrville, died Thursday, November 27, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John A. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her mother, Sallie Starks of Orrville; eight brothers, Dennis &uot;Shine&uot; Starks, Terry &uot;Mohawk&uot; Starks, Samuel &uot;Nick&uot; Starks, Andrew &uot;Slick&uot; Mosely of Orrville, Larry Starks of Homestead, Fla., Darryl Mosely of Birmingham, Bobby Starks of Selma and Willie Mosely of Detroit, Mich.; three sisters, Beatrice Spicer of Homestead, Fla., Betty Starks and Barbara Mosely of Orrville; two brothers-in-law; nephew, nieces, seven aunts; five uncles; devoted friend, Trish West.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Starks, and a sister, Martha Gray Starks.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, from 1 p.m. to funeral hour.

Ms. Starks, attended Keith High School, where she was loved by many.

Leon Howard Smitherman

Leon Howard Smitherman, 83, of Selma, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, at the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Smith and Russell Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Moore Smitherman of Selma; one sister-in-law, Frances Hobbie Smitherman of Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Louise McLaughlin of Selma.

Active pallbearers are Jerry Smith, Hawkins Moore, Russell Morrow, Gordon Moore, Jim Van Sant and Rusty Travis.

Honorary pallbearers are masons.

Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, at Selma Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church, 1209 Selma Avenue, Selma, AL 36703.

Bertha Davis

Bertha Davis, 67, of Autaugaville, died November 27, 2003, at a rehab center.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 6, at Greater Mallard Chapel AME Church in Autaugaville, with the Rev. S. Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow in Old Pine Grove Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include five brothers, Bob (Lefonia), Roosevelt (Mary), Jim and Norman Steele of Autaugaville and Walter Steele of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law.

Active pallbearers are nephews.

Virginia Golson

Virginia Golson, 96, of Birmingham, formerly of Lowndes County, died Monday, December 1, 2003.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, December 6, at Mt. Clair Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Willing Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include, a loving daughter, Mary Abner; son, Colvin (Mason) Sellers; stepson, Peter Bell Jr.; special granddaughter and guardian, Jessie Abner-Tyson; sister, Julia Robinson; sister-in-law, Oralee Howard; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Lorene Watkins

Lorene Watkins, 86, of Illinois, died Monday, December 1, 2003, in Illinois.

Services are at 12 noon, Friday, December 5, at Salem P.B. Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Richard Winston; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, and a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Watkins; parents, Jim and Alice Cunningham, one son, Joseph Wallace, one daughter, Addie Dell Malone; and 25 brothers and sisters.

Mack Edward Lawson

Mack Edward Lawson, 84, of Lowndes County, died Friday, November 28, 2003.

Services are at 12 noon, Saturday, December 6, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Longshore officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Steve Smiley

Steve Smiley, 20, of Selma, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at a local hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.

Mary L. Kynard

Mary L. Kynard, 89, of Forkland, died Friday, November 28, 2003, at a Tuscaloosa hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, at Old Greene Oak Baptist Church in Forkland, with the Rev. James Reed and the Rev. Joshua Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Eastern Star hour will be from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, at Larkin and Scott Funeral Home.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Roland Hardwick

Roland Hardwick, 68, of Albany, N.Y., formerly of Tishabee, died Thursday, November 27, 2003, at a hospital in Albany, N.Y.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 7, at the Chapel of Larkin and Scott Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Isiah Lomax Jr.

Isiah Lomax Jr., 79, of Birmingham, formerly of Gallion, died Wednesday, November 26, 2003, in Demopolis.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 6, at Evening Star Baptist Church, Gallion, with the Rev. Floyd James officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 12 noon.
