Leon Smitherman, 83, of Selma, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at a local hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Selma Funeral Home.

Irma Parker

Irma Parker, of Chicago, Ill., died Sunday, November 30, 2003, in Chicago, Ill.

Graveside services are at 10 a.m. Friday, December 5, at Elmwood Cemetery, Selma, with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one brother, Charles (Mary Alice) Parker; two sister, Barbara (Arthur) Jones and Betty (Ramalis).

Eula Delaine Godwin

Eula Delaine Godwin, 75, of Selma, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday, December 5, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Roscoe H. Godwin; son, Donald R. Godwin; daughter-in-law, Lisa Godwin; brother, John Moore; sister, Bertha M. Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Active pallbearers are Charles Bruner, Randall Bruner, Robert Ingram, Skipper Ellis and Timothy Richburg and Eric Richburg.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.

Irene Bryant

Irene Bryant, 74, of Livingston, Miss., died Saturday, November, 29, 2003, at a hospital in Meridian, Miss.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday, December 5, at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Yantley, with the Rev. Willie Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, at the church.

Lorene Watkins

Lorene Watkins, 86, of Illinois, died Monday, December 1, 2003, in Illinois.

Services are at 12 noon, Friday, December 5, at Salem P.B. Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Louise Campbell Long

Louise Campbell Long, 99, of Birmingham, formerly of Burnsville, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at a Birmingham hospital.

Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 4, at New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma, with the Rev. Rick Patterson officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Survivors include niece, Margaret Campbell Reynolds of Birmingham; nephew, Dr. Ernest S. (Ann) Campbell Jr. of Orange Beach; and a host of great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Long was a retired school teacher who taught for 40 years in the Dallas County area. Mrs. Long was a member of the William Rufus King Chapter of DAR. She was the daughter of James T. Campbell and Kate Sheppard Campbell and the widow of Howard L. Long.

Mary Evelyn Pearson Redd

Mary Evelyn Pearson Redd, 94, of Selma, died Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, December 5, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Mount and David Bell officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, James Cecil Redd Sr.; sons, James Cecil (Patricia) Redd Jr., Robert Eugene Redd of Selma, Thomas Edward (Margaret) Redd of LaFayette, Ga., Jack Allen (Nancy) Redd of Hoover, and Bernard Russell (Kay) Redd of Selma; daughter, Wanda Redd (Johnny) Mount of Hoover; grandchildren, Summer Redd, Gina Redd (Larry) Callaway, Robert Eugene (Rexene) Redd Jr.,

Jason (Heather) Redd, Travis Redd, Amy Redd (David) Bell, Laurie Redd (Stephen) Shows, Kim Smitherman, Kelly Corey, Jamie Mount, Gia Mount and Johanna Mount; nephew, Stanley Edward Strain of Orange Beach; and 11 grandchildren.

Active pallbearers are her children.

Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Strain and Glenn Sexton.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to United Methodist Children’s Home in Selma or Cahaba Hospice of Selma.

Mrs. Redd was a member of First Baptist

Church in Selma and an associate member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Birmingham.
