Selma Police recently made an arrest that involved drugs and counterfeit money.

Selma Police responded to a call from a local business concerning counterfeit money Saturday.

Selma Police said Officer David Hopkins spotted a vehicle on Franklin Street, which stopped briefly on Primrose before it left the area.

Police said Hopkins pursued the vehicle and witnessed objects being thrown from the vehicle on the passenger side.

Police said the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle while traveling down an alley behind the Days Inn, where the vehicle then ran into a fence.

Officer Ray Moore found what appeared to be a large bag of marijuana on the driver’s side floorboard of the vehicle

A pistol was also discovered on the seat.

Police said officers returned to the area where Hopkins witnessed objects being thrown from the vehicle.

They found a large bag of cocaine, another bag of marijuana and a bundle of $100 bills.

Police credited Moore as well as officers Carlos Jones, Walter Curtis, Evelyn Ghant, Sgt. Joe Bills, and Capt. Anita Barlow with making the arrest.

Police said they arrested Roger Earl Patterson, 21, of Selma; Arzie Turner, 25, of Montgomery; Jacquin Jones, 22, of Orrville; and Brian Varner, 22, of Montgomery.

Each subject was charged with a felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a felony count of unlawful possession of marijuana first degree, 53 felony counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, and each was charged with the misdemeanor offense of carrying an unlicensed pistol in the vehicle.

Subjects were arrested, charged and transported to the Dallas County Jail.

Bond was set at $75,000 for each subject.
