Lilton Oliver

Lilton Oliver, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at a healthcare facility.

Services are at 1 pm Saturday, Nov. 22, at First M. B. Church of Farmersville, with Elder Lovell C. Lewis officiating.

Survivors include a devoted wife of 69 years, Alice Johnson Oliver; 11 children, Booker T (Verdia) Oliver, Rosia Lee and Ola B. Price, Annie Lee, John D, Jimmy D., Ceola, Ola Mae, Mary Jane Oliver, Annie Mae (Johnny) Reeves and Jesse (Diane Crum; 45 grandchildren; 78 great-grands; 17 great-great-grands; one brother-in-law, Morris Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews; one loving and caring nephew, Tommie (Debra) Oliver; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Kenneth Leon Land

Kenneth Leon Land, 86, of Marion, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003, at a Perry County nursing home.

Services are at 11 am Friday, Nov. 21, at Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Kirk Funeral Homes of Marion directing.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth W. Land of Marion; two sons, Kenneth L. Land Jr. and wife Happy of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and William R. Land and wife Susan of Panama City, Fla.; two brothers, Floyd Land of Mississippi and Raymond Land of Pennsylvania; one sister, Faye Blair of Akron, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Active pallbearers are John Wenth, Joe Wenth, Mike Riley, Willard Nichols, Irby Pope and John Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Siloam Baptist Church, 1003 Washington St., Marion, AL 36756.

James R. Howard, of Selma, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003 ,in Selma.

Melvin L. Jackson

Melvin L. Jackson, 70, of Selma, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are at noon Saturday, Nov. 22, at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Darryl Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four sons, Melvin L. Jackson Jr., Greg Suttles, Wyndell

Jackson and Jackie Robinson; three daughters, Tonya Jackson, Kim Jackson and Vickie Williams; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one aunt, Clara Smith. Active pallbearers are Second Baptist Deacons.

Tyson Stoudenmire

Tyson Marc Stoudenmire, 29, of Birmingham, Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at John the Baptist Church, Orrville, with the Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include mother, Margaret Stoudenmire, father, Charles Perkins; brother, Charles Eric Stoudenmire of Birmingham; four sisters, Dorothy Hatcher of Selma, Dianne (Mangono) Hall and Brunetta (Sherman) Cain of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Samantha Stoudenmire of Orrville; grandmothers, Jessie Moreland of Orrville; 11 aunts; five uncles; two brothers-in-law; seven nephews; seven nieces; one great-nephew, Jayden Hatcher; cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fredrick Wendell Matthews of Henpstead, N.Y., and grandmother, Essie Matthews. Active pallbearers are Randolph James, Ricky James, John Johnson Jr., Anthony Holmes, Willie Holmes, Dwight Jones and Maurice Turner.

Samuel Jones

Samuel Jones, 56, of Demopolis, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at a Demopolis hospital.

Services are at 1 pm Saturday, Nov. 22, at John the Baptist Church, Gallion, with the Rev. Gerome Burrell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing. Family visitation will be from 6-7 pm on Friday, at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at noon.

Carrie Jean Thomas

Carrie Jean Thomas, 50, of Demopolis, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at a Demopolis hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 22, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Forkland, with the Rev. William Branch officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Demopolis, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.

Family visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.

The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at noon.
