For the second time in a span of nine years, Francine Blair has gotten a call from school officials telling her of her daughter’s disappearance.

The first time ended in tragedy when her 14-year-old daughter, Heather, was killed in a car accident in 1993 after leaving Dallas County High School one day during school hours.

Now the search is on for her other daughter, Laura K. Rhodes, 14, and a 13-year-old friend, Megan E. Glackin, who walked away from Meadowview Christian Academy around noon Monday without the permission of school authorities.

Neither Laura or Megan have been seen since.

Blair and Megan’s mother, Rhonda Watson, received a call from Meadowview school personnel about the events leading up to the girls’ disappearance.

The parents said they were told both teen-agers came to the front office claiming that their mothers were to pick them up in 10 minutes.

When the parents didn’t show up, the school called the parents. Neither Blair nor Watson said they had any plans to take their daughters out of school that day.

When the two parents arrived at the school to assess the situation, the girls were gone.

Both Laura’s and Megan’s families said this type of behavior is uncharacteristic.

Both mothers said that a telephone worker saw two girls get into a gold, four-door, late 1980s model Honda close to the school around the time in question.

Blair also said that someone saw two girls walking down Dallas Avenue sometime around noon.

Laura, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 115 pounds, was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white shirt, silver belt and Birkenstocks. Megan, 5 feet 7 inches and 135 pounds, was wearing blue jeans, a T-shirt and tennis shoes.
