Wilber Allen Reed

Wilber Allen Reed, 72, of Jones, died Monday, November 10, 2003, at his home.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 13, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Baptist Church Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his foster mother, Jessie Mae Apperson; wife, Helen Chandler Reed; son, Keith Allen (Nancy) Reed; daughters, Lesa Reed ( Ronnie) Quarles and Penny Reed (Gentry) Smith; grandchildren, Summer Smith, Laken Quarles, Lydia Quarles, Kaitlan Reed, Landon Reed, Reed Smith; sister in-law, Ouida Reed of Palm City, Fla., and Elsie Reed of Eckerty, Ind.

Active pallbearers are Micheal Bowden, Carl Beggs, Allen Beggs, Bernie Groves and Allen Groves.

Honorary pallbearers Jones Baptist Church men, Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and co-workers of Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Lawrence Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Jones Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. Reed was a Deacon at Jones Baptist Church, and worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 37 years.

Sylvia Davis

Sylvia Davis, 87, of Autaugaville, died Saturday, November8, 2003, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 15, at Greater Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include six sons, Thomas Taylor, William Stoudemire, Arthur Taylor, Larry Stoudemire, Curtis Stoudemire, Ernest Stoudemire; two daughters, Geraldine Richards and Brenda Mims; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; three daughters-in-law; three nephews; one niece; and other relatives and friends.

Ms. Davis was former Usher Board president, Sunday school teacher and choir member.

Pauline Davis

Pauline Davis, 88, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Selma, died Monday, November 3, 2003, in Citrus Heights, Calif.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 15, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include daughter, Betty (Bob) Ramage of Georgetown, S.C., and Ruth (Arnold ) Lasher of Roseville, Calif.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Davis, who retired from L&N Railroad.

Family visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the United Methodist Children’s Home in Selma or the charity of your choice.

Bertie Jay Pugh

Bertie Jay Pugh, 96, of Selma, died Thursday, November 6, 2003.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 8, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Father Mark Vincent officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include several nieces, nephews and a host of friends that loved and took care of her.

Honorary pallbearers are employees of Wiregrass Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wiregrass Hospice.

Mrs. Pugh was a member of Valley Grande Baptist Church.
