Timothy Gerald Patterson
Timothy Gerald Patterson, of Selma, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Morning Star Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Wright Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include five brothers, his twin, Rev. Thomas J. (Patsy) Patterson, Charles N. Patterson of Selma, Rev. R. L. (Terilyn) Patterson of Birmingham, Lloyd (Jannie) Patterson of San Diego, Calif., and Clarence (Mary) Patterson of Detroit, Mich.; five sisters, Dorothy (Perry) Kelly of Montgomery, Frenchie (Ralph) Edwards of Selma, Johnnie Mae Kelly, Geneva (Clarence) Wilson and Claudia M. Cope all of Detroit, Mich.; a special aunt, Lillian Mitchell of Elmont, N.Y.; a devoted niece and nephew, Ministers Ernest and Deborah Wright, a special friend, Betty Finney; godparents, Irene Johnson and Vivian Myers of Selma and Mr. and Mrs. William Larkins of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents the Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Patterson and two brothers, John Henry and Norah Patterson.
Mr. Patterson taught music in Selma and served as church musician for many churches in Selma and other areas. He was employed by the Dallas County School System.
A musical program will be held in his honor at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, at New Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Mary L. Underwood
Mary L. Underwood, 79, of Dallas County, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 at her home.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregory Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Town Creek Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include two sons, Lee Underwood and Sidney Underwood; 12 daughters, Lillian Floyd, Dorothy Groce, Jessie Stallworth, Ruthie Carter, Rosetta Underwood, Patricia Underwood, Marilyn Underwood, Evelyn Huff, Lorraine Capers, Barbara Underwood, Jacquelin Stephens and Shirley Spencer; one brother, James Moss; one sister, Jessie M. Webster Carter; 31 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Ms. Underwood was born on Mar. 1, 1923 in Selma, to the late Mamie Davis and John Moss. She earned her high school diploma form Tyler High School. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Town Creek Baptist Church. She was know throughout the community as a compassionate friend to her neighbors and was hospitable to all, for she knew no strangers. She was a brilliant quiltmaker. Her life reflected this art.
She was always able to take things and circumstances that seemed hopeless than add to them her loving hands of wisdom, discipline and devotion, virtually turning trash treasures and crumbs into a feast fit for a king.
Lizzie Muse Butler
Lizzie Muse Butler, 65, of Selma, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 at a local hospital.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Salem P.B. Church, Orrville, with the Rev. Lee A. Green officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include parents Eugene and Mary Etta Muse; daughters, Lorece &uot;Bonnie&uot; Muse of Selma and Charley Mae Johnson of Hempstead, N.Y; sisters, Roberta Acoff of Bessemer and Lillie Pearl Muse of Orrville; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Butler, was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Butler, a daughter, Mae Ree (Rene) Muse of Selma, a sister, Louise Battle, two brothers, Andrew Muse and Willie Muse of Bessemer.
Active pallbearers are nephews.
Rosie Banks
Rosie Banks, 50, of Selma, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at a Birmingham hospital.
Services are at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Abundant Life Center with the Rev. P.E. Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in Town Creek Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include four sons, James Baskin, Bobby Baskin, Gregory Baskin and Jerry Baskin; two daughters, Diana Baskin and Sharonda Baskin; three brothers, Willie G. Gordon, David Gordon and Arthur Gordon; five sisters, Ethel Lee Gordon, Rosie Sanders, Channie Surles, Dorothy Thorn and Annie Brenson; 13 grandchildren; one son-in-law; two daugthers-in-law; one sister-in-law; 20 nephews; 22 nieces.
Active pallbearers are Arthur, Jermaine, TyRone, Jimmy , Charles, Tony and Jimmy.
Marie Caldwell
Marie Caldwell, 104, of Lowndes County, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Mt. Elam Baptist Church with the Rev. Stephen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include three children, Nealia Gordon, Mary Moorer and John (Anna Mae) Caldwell all of Hayneville; two devoted grandsons, Robert (Frances) Parker and Willie (Wilma) Parker; 26 grandchildren; 73 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; one cousin, Melissa Lockett; and a host of friends.

Estelle Ford. 85, of Selma, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 at a Birmingham hospital.
Services are at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Ellwood Church in Tyler, with the Rev. Clarence Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Creek Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include one goddaughter, Ruthie (Marzette) Motley.
Roosevelt Fisher
Roosevelt Fisher, 80, of Selma, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 at a local hospital.

Nearious Molette, 55, of Selma, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 at a local hospital.

Mary Bizzell
Mary Bizzell, 76, of Coatopa, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 at a Birmingham hospital.
Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Bethel-Pine Baptist Church in Coatopa, with the Rev. Floyd Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Pinetop Cemetery, Coatopa, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.
The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 1 p.m.

Della Lyons Davis, 80, of Birmingham, formerly of Gallion, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002 at a Birmingham hospital.

Rev. Woodson Lewis Jr., 99, of Forkland, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 at a Demopolis hospital.
Services are at 12 noon Saturday, Nov. 2, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Forkland, with the Rev. William Branch and the Rev. Dr. Thomas Gilmore officiating. Burial will follow in First United Cemetery, Forkland, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home directing.
