Wilcox continues to dominate, beats Meadowview

Wilcox Academy and the Meadowview Christian Trojans went at it Friday night at Wasden Field, and the outcome was much the same for the Trojans as it has been all year with the Wildcats winning 28-6.

Wilcox Academy proved why they have been a formidable foe all year. The Trojans played a tough first quarter, and managed to hold the Wildcats scoreless for the first 14 minutes of the ball game, and it looked as it might be the night that the Trojans finally get their first win of the year.

The Wildcats managed to get on the board first when Channing House recovered a Trojan fumble on the Trojan 29 yard line. Philip Merryman then punched it in from 10 yards out, and Sam Mosley added the extra point to make the score 7-0.

It didn’t take Wilcox long to add to their lead. After moving the ball successfully on the Trojan defense Wilcox added another score on a Michael Monte three yard touchdown run. Mosley added another extra point to make the score 14-0 Wildcats.

The Wildcats got back on the board one more time before half-time when Merryman intercepted a Shane Lee pass, and returned it down to the Trojan 19 yard line. Josh Vick then hooked up with Campbell Williams on a 19 yard pass to give Wilcox the lead 21-0 after Mosley added his third extra point of the night.

The Trojans came out in the second half, and played inspired defense only allowing Wilcox one more score.

Wilcox got their only score of the second half on a drive that started on their own 29 yard line. The drive was capped off by a 30 yard touchdown ramble by Monte, and Mosley added his fourth extra point of the night to make the score of the night to put the Wildcats up 28-0.

The game seemed to stall at this point with the Trojans defense managing to contain the Wildcats.

Late in the second half the Trojans managed to put up their only score of the night when Andy Osborne took the hand-off, and rolled 65 yards down the field to pick up the touchdown. The ensuing extra point attempt failed, and the game ended with the score 28-6.

The offensive leaders of the game for Wilcox were Merryman with 115 yards rushing, and Monte with 81.

Defensive leaders for the Wildcats were Channing House with 10 tackles and a fumble recovery, and Michael Riggs with 9 tackles and an interception.

The Trojans take on Morgan Academy next Friday night at Wasden Field at 7:30, and Wilcox Academy takes on Marengo. The Wildcats improve to 8-1 on the year, and the Trojans remain winless this season.
