Have you ever seen a totally non self-absorbed football team that is only interested in winning ball games as a complete unit? I have and they are from just a little ways up the road. If you haven’t figured out who yet, it is the 8-0 Dallas County Hornets.

The Hornets are ranked seventh in the state in 4A football, and they have done it together. No single person has carried this team to where they are at. It has been a combined effort on both sides of the ball.

All of the players echo the same sentiment as the coaches. &uot;All I can do for the team is go out, and give 100 percent, and do the best job I can for the team,&uot; said Hornet outside linebacker Mathu Travis.

Running back Clifford Lyons Jr. feels much the same way. &uot;Team selflessness has gotten us where we are, and will continue to help us win ball games.&uot;

The Hornets tireless effort in getting ready for the season has also played a major factor.

The Hornets have managed to put up some very big numbers offensively this year, and have outscored all of their opponents by outstanding margins. The combined effort of the offense has made this possible.

The defense has greatly improved this year and, even though he won’t admit it, new defensive coordinator Brian Seymore has played a major part on that side of the ball.

Seymore feels a little different about what he brings to the team. &uot;I feel that what coach Causey instilled in the team has paid off this year for us,&uot; said Seymore. &uot;I try as hard as I can to get the players up, and motivated to play ball, but one of the main things is I want them to have as much fun as possible while they are playing.&uot;
