Indiana man wanted for murder caught in Selma

An Indiana man, arrested in Selma and suffering a gunshot wound, wants to return to Indiana to face murder charges.

Joshua Calhoun, 24, of Fort Wayne, Ind., was arrested by Selma police officers Sunday and charged with being a fugitive from justice.

Calhoun is charged in Indiana’s Allen County for the alleged murder and attempted murder of two people on Oct. 10. Calhoun displayed a wound to his arm that he said was the result of a gunshot.

Reports show that around 10 p.m. Sunday, police received a call from Calhoun’s father, Milton, who said his son was knocking on the door and wanting to stay at the mobile home at Cahaba Parkwest trailer park. But he also remembered receiving a phone call from relatives telling of Joshua Calhoun’s trouble.

Indiana authorities confirmed his suspicion. According to police reports, at 11:29 Joshua Calhoun was arrested at the mobile home location and taken to the Dallas County Jail.

A Fort Wayne newspaper, The Journal Gazette, reported that Joshua Calhoun is accused of killing Eric M Hale, 38, and injuring William T. Allen, 32, both of Fort Wayne, outside Hale’s office last Thursday.

Gunshot wounds to the head and chest killed Hale, and Allen was shot in the back. Allen was hospitalized and was at first in critical condition and then moved to fair the next day.

also reported that authorities said the shooting wasn’t random and Joshua Calhoun was shot in the right arm.
