Senators face Monroe Academy

The Morgan Academy Senators take one of their toughest opponent all year Friday night in Monroe Academy. Monroe is coming off a convincing win over Mobile Christian 34-10, and the Senators are coming off a close win over Cottage Hill 27-22. Monroe is ranked #1 in the 3A region two, and Morgan is ranked #2, and this game could play big in deciding home field advantage for the play-offs.

Each team has one loss heading into the game, but both teams were at a disadvantage in each of their losses. The Senators lost to Macon East in a horrific downpour that effected the outcome of the game. Monroe Academy lost to Wilcox Academy on the road in Camden, but to of their key players were injured and did not play the game. Wilcox Academy should not have anything taken away from them they did play one of their best games of the year.

The Senators have been a come from behind team all year, but they have managed to get the job done when it counts. They have good talent on both sides of the football, and are experienced in just about all of their key positions. They have a standout running back in Owen Peak, and threat to throw or run in quarterback Travis Lyon. Their big offensive line has blocked well all year, and allowed the Senators to get the job done on the ground without a problem.

Monroe has a good running back to in Bonner Willams. As of week four Willams had put up 504 yards rushing on 61 attempts, and was ranked fifth in the state in rushing in AISA football.

The Senators take on Monroe Academy Friday night in Selma at 7:30.
