The Morgan Academy Senators picked up their fifth win of the year Friday night in another close game 22-21 over Mobile Christian.

Morgan did what they have done all year &045;&045; they came from behind to win another close game.

Mobile Christian took the opening kickoff, and marched the ball 61 yards down the field to put up the first points of the night. On third and ten on the 15 yard line Mobile Christian completed a 15 yard pass to give them the 7-0 lead.

It didn’t take Morgan long to answer the Mobile Christians score. Morgan was able to capitalize on a Mobile turnover on the 47 yard line, and finally get into scoring position. On second and goal on the five yard line Owen Peak took the hand off and punched the ball into the end zone, and then converted the two point conversion to give the Senators their first score of the night as they took the lead 8-7.

Mobile Christian got on the board again when Travis Lyon fumbled the ball on a quarterback keeper, and Mobile Christian took the ball 65 yards for the touchdown to go up 14-8.

Morgan got their chance to tie the game late in the second quarter when Mobile Christian fumbled the ball, and Morgan recovered on the Mobile Christian 30 yard line. It only took the Senators five plays to put the ball into the end zone, and tie the game 14-14 after the two point conversion failed.

Early in the second half Morgan found themselves in a fourth and eight situation on their own 28 yard line, and they went for it. The Senators came up inches short, and Mobile Christian took over on downs on the Morgan 30 yard line.

Mobile Christian took the ball, and marched it down the field 30 yards for the score, and the lead 21-14.

Neither team could manage to accomplish much until late in the fourth quarter when Morgan got their biggest break of the night. On fourth and one on the Mobile Christian 39 yard line, Mobile dropped back to punt. The snap from center sailed over the punter’s head, and Morgan took over possession on the Mobile Christian 12 yard line.

Morgan took advantage of the Mobile Christian mistake on the first play from scrimmage, and punched it in from 12 yards out. The two point conversion attempt was good, and the Senators took the lead 22-21, and it was just enough to give them the win.

Morgan Academy takes on Cottage Hill next Friday night in Cottage Hill at 7:30.
