Ethel Mae Swain-Lewis

Ethel &uot;Lump&uot; Mae Swain-Lewis, of Uniontown, died Wednesday, September 24, 2003.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 29, at Woodlawn M.B. Church, Uniontown, with the Rev. Albert Paige officiating and Lee & Rollins Funeral Home of Marion directing.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Berry) Swain, Willie (Roxanne) Lewis, Charles (Joann) Lewis, Calvin (Areline) Lewis, Franklin (Rhonda) Lewis, Alfreda (Henry) Wooten, Deborah Lewis and Yvonne Lewis; and one devoted grandson she raised, Kendrick Rancher; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Will Lewis Jr., two daughters, Maxine and Gloria Lewis, two brothers, Jessie and Clifton Swain, two sisters, Lucy Hill and Mary E. Russell, and a grandson, Ch’as Lewis.

Mrs. Swain was born to the late Minnie and Clifton Swain on March 20, 1923 in Uniotown. She was a member of Woodlawn M. B. Church. She was employed at Robert C. Hatch High School in the cafeteria for a number of years. She was a homemaker until her retirement.

Barbara Golson Hayes

Barbara Golson Hayes, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Wednesday, September 24, 2003.

Graveside services are at 12 noon, Wednesday. Oct. 1, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation will be on Wednesday, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Evelyn Rauth Kendall

Evelyn Rauth Kendall, 92, of Selma, died Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 2, at Selma Bible Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Avery and the Rev. Charles Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Lou Kendall of Selma and Shirley (Charles) Harrison of Stanton; one granddaughter, Karen (Tony) Smith of Stanton; one great-grandson, Keaton Jones of Stanton; two nephews, Bill (Vicky) Rauth Sr. of Paris, Ky., and Bill (Whitney) Rauth Jr. of Auburn; one niece, Becky Rauth Dickson of Jeffersonville, Ind.

Active pallbearers are Matthew Clark, Mike Drewry, Jimmy Golden, Rev. John Ingram, Rev. Steve Vernon and Owen Yoder.

Honorary pallbearers are J.T. Free, Harley Hopkins, Martin Johnson, Lester Lawson, Grady O’Sheilds and Tom Sulser.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Selma Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Gideons International, the Salvation Army or your favorite charity.

Harvey H. Looney

Harvey H. Looney, of Foley, died Monday, September 29, 2003, at his home.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, at Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Terry Matthews officiating.

Survivors include son, Terrell E. Looney Sr.; one daughter, Dale L. (Daniel) Jones of Panama City, Fla.; one sister, Grace Lutes; six grandchildren, Terrell E. Looney II, Linda M. Peltier, Jennifer R. Crowder, Daniel Jones II, Thomas Looney Jr. and Karen Harris; great-grandchildren, Terrell E. Looney III and Christopher A. Peltier; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred R. Looney, and a son, Thomas W. Looney.
