In the Hornet’ Nest

Dallas County plays host to one of the biggest county rivalry games all year Friday night against Keith.
The Hornets go into the game undefeated, and averaging 52 points a game. While Keith 2-2 on the year have struggled at times putting points on the board, but they still have a running back averaging over 100 yards a game in Emit Dukes.
Dallas County until this point has played outstanding football with wins over Maplesville, Holt, Fayette, and Livingston last week.
Keith is off to a decent start with wins over A.L. Johnson, and R.C. Hatch, but two key region losses could hang over their heads win post season play rolls around.
In Keith’s loss last week to Luverne they were hit hard with injuries, and this could play a factor in their game against Dallas County.
The running back position has not really posed any problems for Dallas County. They have a trio of outstanding backs that have done some amazing things for them this year. Clifford Lyons won &uot;Player of the Week&uot; in the first game of the year with his overall performance. Lyons had a combined total of 302 yards of total offense, and put up five touchdowns in the lopsided win over Maplesville. James Jones Jr. had a good game for the Hornets last week against Livingston. Jones took the opening kick off 72 yards for the touchdown, and after that he put up good rushing numbers like he has been doing all year. Randall Browder another of the hornets offensive weapons has put up good numbers all year also. Nobody should forget about Dallas Counties starting quarterback Donovan Dixon who has run well, and passed well all year to.
Keith will have their hands full this week trying to stop the potent Hornet offense. &uot;We have some very good defensive players that should match up well with their offense,&uot; said Crum. &uot;Victor Carson had a 60 yard fumble return for a touchdown last week against Luverne, and he is one of our leading tacklers also.&uot;
With the fact that that Keith lost a few players last week in the game against Luverne, they are going to try something a little different. &uot;After Gaines went out last week we tried something a little bit different, by putting in Jimmy Richardson at running back, and he managed to pick up 105 yards,&uot; said Crum. &uot;We plan on trying Richardson in some different looks this week to see what he can do for us offensively.&uot;
Dallas County plays host to Keith High Friday night in Plantersville at 7:30.
