Eddie L. Weeden
Eddie L. Weeden, 85, of Raceland, La., formerly of Collerine, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m.
Monday, Sept. 23, at St. Mary Cemetery, Raceland, La., with Falgout Funeral Homes, Inc. directing.
Survivors include one sister, Nannie Sue Langston of Selma.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Detillier Weeden, his parents, James and Maggie Todd Weeden; six brothers, Alvin, Robert, David, James, Willie and Henry Weeden.
Family visitation will be from 8 -11 a.m. on Monday.
Mr. Weeden served in World War II in the United States Navy. He served on the U.S. Yorktown at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese bombed. He was past Commander of VFW, member of the Woodmen of the World, and volunteer Blue Boy at St. Anne Hospital.
Queen Etta Wiley
Queen Etta Wiley, 89, of Selma, died Friday, September 20, 2002 at a local nursing home.
Services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of J.H. Williams and Sons with the Rev. G. King officiating. Burial will be at Fairlawn Memory Garden with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.
Ms. WIley is survived by a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
Wanda Felts Vasser
Wanda Felts Vasser, of Pensacola, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 at a hospital in Pensacola Fla.
Services will be he held in Pensacola, Fla. Burial services will be held at Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery, with the Rev. Doug Chappelle officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include two sons, Elmer (Jean) South III of McKinny, Texas and William &uot;Bill&uot; Vasser of Clearwater, Fla., parents, Erest and Irma Felts of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Vickie Felts Haugen; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernie and Carroll Felts; one niece, Randi Haugen; two nephews, Nicholas and Kiel Felts all of Bradenton, Fla.; and a special friend, Nelson Rowe of Buford, South Carolina.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, at Selma Funeral Home
James Elwyn Brady, Sr.
James Elwyn Brady, Sr., 88, of Marion, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002.
Services will be held Monday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. John Glasgow and Dr. George Washburn officiating. Burial will follow with Kirk Funeral Home of Marion directing. Visitation will take place Sunday, Sept. 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kirk Funeral Home.
Survivors include sons James Elwyn (Catherine) Brady, Jr., of Marion and Maurice Boyd (Joni) Brady of Auburn; daughter Gloria Joyce Brady (John) Colburn of Marion; sister Ida Brady Plummer of Marion; six grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Brady was preceded in death by his wife Miriam Plummer Brady.
Active pallbearers are Allen Goodwin Colburn, Kenneth F. Hubbard, John Bradley Brady, David Wayne Barron, Jamie Brady and Burnis Barton. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Wheeler, Joe Richardson, John Sandlin, Wallace Thomas and Richard Royster.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund or Ivey Chapel.
