Central Christian Academy routed Marion Military Institute 41-18 Thursday night at Memorial Stadium.

MMI took their first possession, and drove it 55 yards down the field to draw first blood and go up 6-0 after the extra point failed. It looked as if MMI would make the ball game close at this point, but they failed to get anything else going until the fourth quarter.

On MMi second possession of the game they were forced to punt in a fourth and three situation, and C.A. Poe returned the punt 65 yards for the touchdown going up 7-6 after the extra point sailed through the uprights. That was the closest MMI would get to the Warriors for the rest of the night.

CCA took their next possession, and marched the ball down the field 59 yards for the touchdown. Javaris Burden was the Warrior who picked up the score on a two yard touchdown run, and the extra point was good to make the score 14-6. That drive set the tone for the rest of the evening.

After CCA kicked off to MMI on the insuing possession C.K. Poe intercepted a pass on MMI 19 yard line. This set up a short field for CCA and allowed Burden to scamper in from 19 yards out for his second touchdown of the game to make the score 21-6.

On CCA next possession of the game they drove the ball down to their 48 yard line, and picked up another touchdown on a pass from C.K. Poe to C.A. Poe for 52 yards. The extra point was no good to make the score 27-6.

The game was all CCA in the first half, except for the one defensive slip early in the first quarter.

On the opening kickoff of the second half CCA drove the ball down the field 62 yards, and Burden scored his third touchdown of the game on a 41 yard run. The extra point was good to make the score 34-6.

MMI took possession of the ball on the insuing kickoff on their own two yard line, and fumbled the ball into the end zone where C.K. Poe fell on it to pick up CCA’s last touchdown of the night to make the score 41-6.

MMI managed to pick up three more scores late in the game, but it was a little to late as the CCA Warriors go on to win the game 41-18.

CCA takes on Coosa Valley next Friday night at Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m., and MMI plays Ashford at Ashford next Friday night.
