Morgan Academy picked up their third win of the season over Ft. Dale 29-22 Friday night in dramatic fashion.

After going down 15-0 with seven minutes and forty seconds left in the first half Morgan finally got on the board with an Owen Peak five yard touchdown run, and the two point conversion was good to cut the score to 15-8 going into the half.

In the first half Morgan tried to go with a little different game plan, and things did not work quite as expected.

Morgan picked up their second score of the ball game on a Travis Lyon pass to cap off a 42 yard scoring drive, and tie the game 15-15.

Ft. Dale wasn’t through yet though with less than two minutes in the third quarter Ft. Dale scored on a 66 yard touchdown pass to go ahead 22-15.

With time winding down in the fourth quarter the Senators scored on a half back pass by Josh Gardner. Morgan then went for the two point conversion to try and take the lead, but it failed and that left them down by one 22-21.

With a little under eight minutes left in the game Morgan started a 70 yard drive that would eat up most of the time off the clock. Lyon scored a 13 yard scamper around the left end, and then converted the two point conversion to make the score 29-22 with a minute and 15 seconds left in the game.

Ft. Dale couldn’t get anything going on their last drive, and ended up turning the ball over on downs to give Morgan the come from behind win 29-22.

With two come-from-behind victories under their belt, confidence is running high for the Senators.

Owen Peak was the leading rusher for the Senators Friday picking up 120 yards on 18 carries, and Travis Lyon had 73 yards on 13 carries.

Matthew Casey led the Morgan defense with 11 tackles, and four of them for a loss. Bob Armstrong, and Jonathan Slagle each had seven tackles a piece.

The Senators will take on Macon East September 20 at 7:30 p.m.
