The economy nationwide is wobbling, but in Dallas County it’s looking pretty stable.
Numbers announced at Monday’s meeting of the Dallas County Commissioners show that sales tax revenue for the county increased 1 percent over last year’s revenues, with the county bringing in more than $192,000 in the month of August.
So far, the year-to-date total for county revenue is nearly 1 percent above last year’s.
The amount of money brought in by the gas tax has increased 3 percent.
The current fiscal year ends at the end of September.
Another bright spot of the meeting comes from Alabama Cooperative Extension System’s Dallas County office, which provided a light meal for the commissioners in return for all they have done for the extension office.
Bates provided an extensive report to the commissioners concerning the activities the extension office has done over the past year.

Jones said the commission has tried repeatedly to work with Howorth before and hopes to reach a settlement within a week.
