YMCA getting ready to start fall programs

The YMCA is busting at the seams with activities for all ages, and they have a new &uot;Young Program Director&uot; Allyson Dansby.

Dansby took over as young program director on June 1, 2002, and she has worked hard to provide programs for people of all ages to enjoy at th YMCA.

The YMCA is bringing back Tot Gymnastics, and classes will begin on Sept. 1 for children ages 2-5. Classes wil be held on Tuesday for children ages 2-3 at 9:30 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. , and 10:00 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. Thursday classes will be for age groups 4-5, and will be from 9:30 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. and also from 11 a.m till 12 p.m.

Fall swim lessons is a new addition to the list of activities at the YMCA, and first session will begin on Septembr 16. Tots classes will be held from 3:30 p.m till 4 p.m. and progressive classes will be held from 4:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Second session will begin on October 7 and times will run the same.

Father and son camp will be held October 26-27 at Camp Grist, and mother daughter camp will be held sometime in the spring. During the father son camp some of the activities that will take place are, hike to the canyon, canoeing, archery, and markmenship.

Instedad of pumpkin patch this year the YMCA will have Pow-Wow Day at Camp Grist on November 4-8. Some of the activities will include candle making, and nature hikes.

Basketball regristration begins on October 1, and league play begins on November 1. Boy’s and Girl’s ages 5-13 are allowed to play.

As allways the YMCA still has aerobic classes Monday through Friday. The YMCA has aqua, step, and young at heart aerobics classes. They are also offering &uot;Body Sculpting Classes&uot; from 1:10 p.m. till 1:50 p.m every Tuesday and Thursday.

The Ymca &uot;After School Fun Company&uot; is also avaliable to parents who have to work late, or to kids who just wantto go to the YMCA after school. Van service is avaliable to parents who csn’t pick up their kids after school. The YMCA vans pick up at Valley Grande Ellementary, Central Christian Academy, Byrd Elementary, Meadowview Ellementary, Edgewood, and Cedar Park. Their must be at least two childeren picked up at every school or the van service is not avaliable.
