Hunter was among 10 angry and emotional parents whose daughters were also sexually abused by former Selma City Schools teacher’s aide Charles Williams more than two years ago.

Williams stood avoiding eye contact from family members as they recounted how their life and their childrens’ lives changed since the occurrence of the misconduct.

Williams, 42, was sentenced to seven years for the felony charge of first-degree sexual abuse and five years for the felony charge of enticing a child for immoral purposes.

Since the sentences are concurrent, meaning to happen at the same time, Williams will be up for review by the Pardons and Parole Board after one-third of the seven years is complete.

On Sept. 20, Williams is to report to the Dallas County Jail to start

serving jail time.

As Williams’ supporters attempted to save-face for him before the sentencing, the victims’ parents displayed obvious aggravation. Some sucked their teeth, some made startling sounds while others commented to one another in anger.

It was from 1998 to 2000 when Williams’ improperly fondled several students at East End Elementary. It came to light when six parents of the victims reported the misconduct to a social worker and the Selma Police Department.

Fifteen elementary students, ages nine to 15, testified that Williams’ inappropriately touched them during class. On a separate occasion, Williams persuaded a student who lived across the street from him to come to his home for immoral purposes.

Williams’ original 17 count indictment was later reduced to one count of enticing a child and one count of sexual abuse with an amendment to add the 15 victims’ name to the charge.

Williams’ did recognize that his conduct was extremely inappropriate and apologize to the parents of the victims for what he had done.

But parents left the courtroom disgusted after the sentence ruling pointing out that Williams was not remorsefull.
