A Selma Police officer, Stephanie Woodruff, her husband, Demario, and six children lost everything Monday morning from a fire that burned their home and two cars to a crisp.
Early Monday morning when Woodruff and her husband were on their way home in Uniontown from Mississippi, Woodruff got a call from a fellow officer, Ray Moore, telling her that her house and two cars had been consumed by a firing blaze. That’s when Woodruff’s life became &uot;a nightmare.&uot;
Nothing in the home or in the cars was salvaged. The sentimental things like pictures, important documents, her children’s toys and birth records are all gone. Even her police uniforms and bullet proof vest are ash.
Woodruff and her family have temporarily moved in with her mother-in-law, where they will stay until they can find a new home.
Although she will continue to work, Woodruff is unable to take graduate classes at Auburn University in Montgomery this semester due to the strain this situation has caused, plus one of the cars burned on Monday was hers.
The Uniontown Fire Department was contacted but no information about the cause of the fire was obtainable. Officials are still trying to determine if the blaze was an arson.
