Leafs begin tournament

With the Selma Cloverleafs wrapping up the season with a record of 29-28 they hope to finishing up strong with a good showing in this weeks Southern League tournament in Pensacola Florida.

The Cloverleafs finished up the season with three straight losses to the Montgomery Wings who finished the season at 34-29.

The Pensacola Pelicans earned the top seed in the tournament on Sunday night by defeating the Baton Rouge Riverbats 6-2. Pensacola has the best record in the league at 41-28, and Baton Rouge is a close second at 39-29.

The Southern League Tournament begins today in Pensacola, and will be held at the Pensacola Junior College baseball field. The tournament will run for three days with the final game to be played on Saturday August 31.
