Despite mistakes, Dallas County beats Chilton County, 35-14

In a game filled with missed tackles, fumbles and first game mistakes, Dallas County High School comes out ahead of Chilton County High 35-14 in their scrimmage game Friday night at Dallas County.
Dallas County’s defense looked strong, holding Chilton County scoreless through the first two quarters, and they returned a fumble
95 yards for a touchdown.
On Dallas County’s second possession of the game Clifford Lyons took the ball 88 yards around right end for the first score of the game giving Dallas County a 7-0 lead.
The one bright point for Chilton County in the first half was the return game. Terrence and Darius Campbell both looked good returning the ball for Chilton County, but the offense was unable to capitalize on any of the good returns by putting the ball in the end zone.
Chilton County’s first real scoring opportunity of the game was quickly halted when they fumbled on the five yard line, and Donovan Dixon returned the ball 95 yards for a touchdown. Dallas County went for two, and failed making the score 13-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Early in the second quarter Donavan Dixon took the ball 33 yards on the Quarterback keeper for the touchdown, and the two point conversion attempt gave Dallas County a 21-0 lead.
Dallas County picked up another touchdown in the first half with its running game making the score 28-0.
Chilton County moved the ball well at times in the first half, but were unable to capitalize on anything due to penalties, and turnovers.
In the second half Chilton County managed to pick up two touchdowns, and Dallas County scored once more making the final score 35-14 in favor of Dallas County.
Dallas County plays Maplesville at Maplesville for their first regular season game on Friday. Chilton County opens with Jemison on Friday.
