Samuel Clarence Moore

Samuel Clarence Moore 79, of Selma died Monday, August 19, 2002, at a local hospital

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. C.A. Lett, officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Walker’s Mortuary directing.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Moore; daughter Gezelle Moore of Chicago, Ill.; his son Calvin Moore of Selma; devoted grandson Darryl Daniels (Geraldine) of Montgomery; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Emma Acoff Atkins

Emma Acoff Atkins, 90, of Uniontown, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2002, at her home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at First Baptist Church of Uniontown, with the Rev Dwight Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mark P.B. Church Cemetery in Browns, with White Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a daughter, Annie; a granddaughter, Emily; and a great-grandson, Brentzick Atkins; all of Uniontown; one sister, Rebecca Hines of Tuscaloosa; one step-daughter, Mattye Jones of Buffalo, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Callie Reese of Selma and Margaret Acoff of Bessemer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Acoff, siblings, George and Phillip Acoff and Fannie Parrish.

Mrs. Atkins was born on June 8, 1912.

Kisiah Motley Scott

Kisiah Motley Scott, 99, of Autaugaville, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2002, at a local hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Mallard Chapel Church with the Rev. Albert Curry officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sisters, Clealia Washington of Birmingham and Lula Parker of Autaugaville; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Willie Smiley

Willie &uot;Babro&uot; Smiley, 39, of Selma, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at his home.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his father, Willie Lee Smiley; two brothers, Robert (Cindy) Smiley of Montgomery and Jerry (Tommie) Smiley of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Annie (David) Wallace of Selma, Malinda Smiley of Atlanta, Ga., Maria Smiley and Pauline Smiley both of Selma; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; nine nephews; ad three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Smiley.

Active pallbearers are family and friends.

Mary Pettway

Mary Pettway, 82, of Orrville, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Alberta, with the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Beatrice Walker

Beatrice Walker, 87, of Selma, died Thursday, August 22, 2002, at a local hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.

Carolyn Bell Cook

Carolyn Bell Cook, 103, died Thursday, August 22, 2002, at a local nursing home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.
