LeAndrew Evans

LeAndrew &uot;LeeMoe&uot; Evans, 74, of Selma, died Thursday, August 14, 2003, at a local nursing home.

Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, August 23, at Christian Grace Apostolic Church with Bishop James Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one sister, Ella Mae Richardson of Selma; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death his mother and father and three sisters, Ola Mae Carlise, Mary Benjamin and Ruby Johnson.

Mr. Evens was born on Mar. 3, 1929 to the late Lallic Lee Carlise Evans and Robert Evans.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Lighthouse Nursing Home for all the love and kindness shown. To know that our loved one was loved by many has touched our hearts. We appreciate and thank you.

Annie Hatcher

Annie Hatcher, 62, of Dallas County, died Wednesday, August 13, 2003, at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 23, at First Baptist Church, Orrville, with the Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Old Prosperity Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include five sons, Costella Hayes, Columbus Hayes, Tommy Thurman, Jessie Sanders and Martin Hicks; four daughters, Debbie J. King, Catherine Thomas, Jacqueline Sanders McMillian and Jennifer L. Sanders; one brother, Joe Harrell; five sisters, Shirley Harrell Bonner, Joan Harrell, Renita Harrell, Bobbie Joe Harrell Davis and Frances Harrell; 31 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three sons-in-law; four daughters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; one sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers are grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren.

Mrs. Hatcher was a Baptist.

Edward Melton

Edward Melton, 53, of Selma, died Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, at Ocmulgee Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Jo Montz Melton of Selma; mother, Willetta Melton of Selma; son, Anthony Melton of Birmingham; step-son, Benji (Lisa) Barwick of Goldsboro, N.C., and Mark (Tina) Royster of Gulf Shores; daughter, Jennifer M. (Frank) Thornton of Selma; brother, Wayne (Jonlee) of Centreville; sisters, Faye M. (Donald) Harris of Selma and Debra M. (Cecil) Smith of Northport; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his father, John Albert Melton.

Active pallbearers are Jerry Mims, Mark Harris, Mike Melton, Wesley Barwick, Brent Mims, Chris Smith, Joe Aultman and Charles Montz.

Honorary pallbearers are co-workers of International Paper.

Family visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Wiregrass Hospice or Ocmulgee Cemetery Fund.

Robert Lee Sr.

Robert Lee Sr., 62, of Selma, died Monday, August 18, 2003, at a Perry County nursing home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 23, at Sister Spring Baptist Church with Elder Christopher Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Robert (Tisha) Lee Jr.; two sisters, Edna Steen Walton of Selma and Anne Lee of Queen, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Tuzur and Robert Lee III; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Jessie Lee Sr.

Active pallbearers are Deacons of Sister Spring Baptist Church.
