Lela Pauline Fischer
Lela Pauline Fischer, 79, of Ozark, died Sunday, August 17, 2003.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, at the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Billy Gaither officiating. Burial will follow in Ariton City Cemetery with Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing.
Survivors include her son, Elmer Lee Garner, Selma; son-in-law, Wilton Thompson, Ozark; four grandchildren, Paige Everett and her husband Steve Everett of Ozark, Dr. Allison Graves and her husband Dr. George Graves of Point Clear, Heather Rish and her husband Jay Rish of Port Saint Joe, Fla., and Ivy Centanni and her husband Steve Centanni of Semmes; nine great-grandchildren, Rebekah Everett, Andrew Everett, Tullie Everett, Fern Graves, Audra Graves, Garner Graves, Joe Rish, Kathleen Rish, and Caroline Rish; two sisters, Iva Snell Preston of Dothan and Linda Scott of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Edward Lee Richardson, Oliver Richardson and Kermit Richardson all of Dothan.
Special friends, Bobbie McLauchlin, Russell and Niki Simmons, and Danielle Dunn.
Mrs. Fischer was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Fischer, Jr. and daughter Marilyn Thompson.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, 1970 East Andrews Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.
Mrs. Fischer’s nurturing and caring nature was evident in her work as a nurse in Montgomery, Alabama. She was all that a grandmother should be. She loved to sew clothes for her four granddaughters and work with them in the vegetable garden. She taught them how to put up creamed corn, field peas, crabapple jelly, and scuppernong jelly. She will be remembered lovingly by her grandchildren for these gifts of her time and her love.
Ella Sue Greene
Ella Sue Greene, 87, of Stanton, died Saturday, August 16, 2003 at a Centreville nursing home.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday, August 22, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Stanton, with the Rev. Scott Watson and the Rev. Danny Rasberry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include sons, Dale Greene of Maplesville and Allen Dunne Greene of Prattville; daughters, Judy Causey of Stanton and Joan Fuqua of Maplesville; sister, Lemma Pugh of Selma; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Greene and a granddaughter, Alicia Sue Ella Fuqua.
Family visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, August 21, at Martin Funeral Home.
