FBI still looking for suspect

The FBI said Thursday that it is still investigating the bank robbery that occurred at the South Trust Bank in Selma on July 18.

According to Selma Police Department spokesperson Warren Hinson, all cases of bank robberies are turned over to the FBI for investigation, since banks are under federal jurisdiction.

FBI spokesperson Ray Zicarelli said that since the robbery is still under investigation, he could not comment on the status of the investigation.

He added during an investigation of a bank robbery, the FBI usually works with police and media in the local area to help develop leads on a suspect.

The Selma Police Department recently released a picture that comes from a surveillance tape at South Trust Bank showing the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’10&uot; tall, weighing 230 pounds. He is approximately 50 years of age and had a mustache during the time of the robbery.
