Cora Bell Marshall

Cora Bell Marshall, died Sunday, August 3, 2003.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 9, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 2910 Range Line Rd., with Bro. James Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her children, Julia B. (Napoleon) Wilks; Cora L. (Vodia) Gaiter; one son, Charlie A. (Glenda) Marshall; granddaughters, Rutha M. Hackett and Essie L. Maxwell; in addition to 18 other grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and five great-great-great-grandchildren; brother, John H. Marshall; two sisters, Lenora Bryant and C. Bell Hall; cousin, Sally Thigpen, among many cousins, nieces, nephews; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and three aunts.

She was preceded in death by four children.

Active pallbearers are grandsons.

Flowerbearers are granddaughters.

Family visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, at J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Marshall was born March 21, 1915 Lowndes County, and was married to M. C. Marshall

Mrs. Marshall served the Dallas county community as a Midwife more than 30. She loved her work, because she loved children, many of &uot;her children&uot; would make themselves known to her wherever they would see her.

After a diligent study of the Bible, she dedicated her life to serve Jehovah God. She symbolized her dedication by water baptism on May 23, 1976. She remained a faithful Witness throughout her illness until her death.

Annie C. Rhodes

Annie C. Rhodes, 99, of Selma, died Sunday, August 3, 2003, at a

local nursing home.

Survivors include two sons, Boysie (Linda) Rhodes of Fayetteville, N.C. and George W. Rhodes of Selma; two daughters, Mildred (Erwin) Missick of Kissimmee, Fla., and Ruth E. Battle of Brooklyn N.Y.; one sister, Millie J. Moore of Gordonsville; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephew, and other relatives and friends.

Eddie Carlisle

Eddie Carlisle, 44, of Marion, died Saturday, August 2, 2003.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Marion Baptist Academy with the Rev. L.C. Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery with Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing.

Frederick Robinson

Frederick Robinson, 46, of Marion, died Saturday, August 2, 2003.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, Aug. 9, at United Community Church of God in Christ with Elder Donald Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lee & Rollins Funeral Home directing.

Cedric Bernard Green

Cedric Bernard Green, 24, of Uniontown, died Sunday, Aug 3, 2003.

Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 10, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Uniontown with the Rev. Anthony Trimble officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Julia L. White Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Saturday, at the Julia L. White Funeral Home.

Robert Lee Johnson Black

Robert Lee Johnson Black, 21, of Uniontown, died Sunday, August 3, 2003.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at First Baptist Church of Uniontown with the Rev. Anthony Trimble officiating. Burial will follow in Flowers Cemetery with Julia L. White Funeral Home directing.

Annie Mae Dees Lane

Annie Mae Dees Lane, of Edinburg, Miss., died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at a Mississippi hospital.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Kosciusko, Miss.

Survivors include her five children, John B. Lane III of Houston, Texas, Judy L. Jones of Sevierville, Tenn., Barbara J. Rosener of St. Louis, Mo., Paul B. Lane of Edinburg, Miss., and Gale L. Smith of Naples, Italy; 10 grandchildren, Dianna L. Janus, John B. Lane IV, Angela C. Lane, Amanda J. Semko, Alexander P. Rosener, Jean A. Lane, Joshua P. Lane, Shannon C. Rosener, Joel K. Jones and J. Kyle Jones; ; nine great-grandchildren, Anthony B. Janus, Ariel N. Lane, Camri T. Lane, Hayden W. Rosener, Clayton A. Rosener, J. Travis Lane, Alayna M. Janus, Kristi E. Christensen and Nathan C. Carter; brother and sisters, Mary L. Paige, M. Katherine Cogar, Jerry L. Dees, Thomas W. Dees, R. Crawford Dees, R. FayeAnderson, M. Joseph Dees, Mitchell P. Dees and Deborah A. Lenoir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, MSgt. John B. Lane Jr., and her parents, John Wesley Dees and Ruth Hooks Dees of Maplesville, one son, Henry C. Lane; brothers and sisters, Mildred I. Lane, John W. Dees Jr., Genevieve D. Sutton, Ruth N. Quattrini, Fred A. Dees, Esther M. Dees and the late Jeannie Dees.

House of New Orleans or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis Tenn.

Mary Gay Woolley

Mary Gay Barnette Woolley, 97, Selma, died Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at a local nursing home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday, August 8, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery, North Perry County, with Lawrence Funeral Home directing

Survivors include a son, W. Kendall (Barbara) Woolley of Niceville, Fla.; daughters: June Pyle of Birmingham, Edna (Roy) Wright of Adamsville, Sybil (Joe) Whitacre of Valley Grande, Jeannette (Ray) Gutkowski of Vestavia Hills and Janice Kooser of Ft Walton Beach, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren 3 great-great grandchildren; and a sister: Ada Barnette Long of Pelham.

She was preceded in death by her husband: G.H. Woolley, a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Woolley, a son, James Kenneth Woolley; six brothers and three sisters.

Family visitation will be at 1 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 2150 Broad Street, Selma, where she has been a member for nearly 50 years.

Edwin Earl Barrett

Edwin Earl Barrett, 39, of Selma, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003 at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, at the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Dr. Kenny Hatcher of Northside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his mother, Jessie Lorine Barrett of Selma; sons, Justin Earl Barrett of Prattville and Joseph Blake Ogle of Selma; brother, Randy (Anita) Barrett of Billingsley; sisters, Annie Smith (Johnny) of Cynthiana, Ky., Becky Mott (Steve) and Libby Mott of Selma; and numerous friends and extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father Edwin Blake Barrett of Selma.

Active pallbearers are Steve Mott, Edwin Thornton, Dale McVay, Todd McCullough, Johnny Smith and Tracey Baker.

Family visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Barrett was a member of Northside Baptist Church. His hobbies were fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He will be missed by his family and friends especially his mother. He carried in his wallet two thoughts, &uot;My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness; and &uot;Beware of despairing about yourself; you are commanded to put your trust in God, not in yourself.&uot;

Anna B. Bailey

Anna B. Bailey, 80, of Selma, died Monday, August 4, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 9, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Cabbel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Arthur L. Bailey (Dorothy); daughter-in-law, Dorothy Bailey; one sister, Harvey Ree Morrow; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Brenda Shelton and Bertha Shelton.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar L. Bailey, parents, Arthur and Dovia Shelton.
