Henry Peoples

Henry Peoples, 66, of Selma, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Sturdivant Hill Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include parents, father, Murry Gardner and mother, Olivia Peoples; one son, Henry Peoples Jr. of Boston; one daughter, Linda Faye Peoples of Boston; sister, Willie Mae Webb of Birmingham; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nephew; three nieces; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Peoples and a sister, Daisy Peoples.

Active pallbearers are church members.

Mr. Peoples was a life long member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

The viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.

Terry M. Gary

Terry M. Gary, 23, of Lowndes County, died Friday, July 25, 2003.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at St. Paul C.M.E. Church with the Rev. C.K. Boswell and Rev. Stephen Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Churchyard Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his mother, Patsy Moore; father, Herbert Gary; stepfather, Moses Moore; stepmother, Shirley Gary; daughter, Alexis Burgin; godson, DeShawn Williams; sisters, Belinda (Jesse) and Alisa; four brothers, Herbert, Jr. (Renee), Jamall, Jimicheal, and John; three nephews, Ja’Vonta Favor, Tyson Gary, La’ Darrius Rodgers; niece, Titiana Gary; two grandmothers, Lacy Bell Gordon and Ethel Tabb; step-grandmother, Alice Moore; grandfather, Sammie Lee Gordon; sixteen aunts; eight uncles; fourteen great aunts; nine great uncles.

Ike Shuford

Ike Shuford, 95, of Hayneville, died Friday, July 25, 2003.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Bougahoma Baptist Church with the Rev. Earnest Green officiating. Burial will follow in the Churchyard Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Ted Peterson

Ted Peterson, 83, of Ft. Deposit, died Friday, July 25, 2003.

Services are at noon Saturday, Aug. 2 at the Ft. Deposite Municipal Complex with Elder Howard Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Ft. Deposit Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Walter &uot;Nunt&uot; Curry

Walter &uot;Nunt&uot; Curry, 76, of Marion, died Monday, July 28, 2003 at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Services are at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at Marion Baptist Academy.

Burial will follow in the New Fellowship Baptist Church with Miller Funeral Service directing.

Survivors include his wife, Lizzie Mae Curry; eight sons, Larry D. Shaw, Napoleon Curry, Timothy Curry, Lionel Curry, Walter Curry, Jr., Johnnie Walker, Eugene Walker, Lou David Walker; 10 daughters, Elizabeth Curry, Gloria Curry, Ruth Motley, Gladys Gurry, Janette Moore, Sherell Curry, Yolanda Curry, Annie Doris Heard; brothers, Claude Curry, Rev. Bonnie Curry, Mayos Curry, Lee Joseph Curry, Eddie Curry, Benjamin Curry; sisters, Clementina Hunt and Mildred Phillips; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four brother-in-laws; five sisters-in-laws; and a number of sons-in-laws and daughters-in-law.

Undray Haywood

Undray Haywood, 37, of Forkland, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Bryan Whitfield Hospital.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Old Greene Oak Baptist Church in Forkland with the Rev. James Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Old Greene Oak Cemetery with Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors entrusted with arrangements.

Omealia &uot;Minnie&uot; Moore

Omealia &uot;Minnie&uot; Moore, 94, of Forkand, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Funeral Services are at noon Saturday, Aug. 2, at Christian Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Moore and Thomas Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Birdline Cemetery in Forkland.

Visiting will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors entrusted with arrangements.

James Elwood Godwin

James Elwood Godwin, 67, of Selma, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at his home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Therman Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

He graduated from Livington University in 1958 where he was an All-American baseball player as well as an All-American basketball player. He served as a youth coach and referee in Selma for over 20 years. He retired after 40 years of federal service as a Recreational Director.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Marie Hager Godwin of Selma; mother, Melanie Godwin of Montgomery; son, James R. Godwin of Selma; daughter, Debbie Godwin Akin of Crossett, Ark.; sisters, Evelyn Martin of Pearl, Miss. and Maggie Johnson of Montgomery.

In liew of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1.
