With the season drawing to a close, and attendance scarce, the Selma Cloverleafs plan to end the season with a bang.

Starting next week the Cloverleafs will host corporate sponsored nights running until the end of the season.

On Friday, July 26, Rayco Industrial Inc. will hold an employee-family night. Ray and Angela Harelson, owners of Rayco, will provide their 100 employees with tickets to bring out all their family members.

On Tuesday, July 30, the Cloverleafs will play Baton Rouge, and the Independent Drug Stores will hold “Independent Drug Store Night” at Bloch Park. The Independent Drug Stores will give away tickets at Carter Drugs, Brown Drugs, Swift Drugs, Dallas Avenue Pharmacy and Medical Center Parkway Pharmacy. Anyone who uses these pharmacies can go by and get free tickets to the game.

On Wednesday, July 31, The Cloverleafs will host “McDonald’s Night” at the ballpark. McDonald’s is providing 1,000 tickets to the game. Cloverleaf ball players will be at McDonald’s Monday-Saturday giving away tickets to anyone who needs them. McDonald’s will also give away coupons for discounts on their products and Ronald McDonald will make an appearance at the game.

On Thursday Aug. 1, the Cloverleafs will host Vaughn Regional Medical Center Night. The hospital has purchased 750 tickets for its employees and their families.

On Friday, Aug. 2, The Selma Times-Journal will honor its subscribers with a customer appreciation and family night. The Cloverleafs will host the Montgomery Wings and subscribers to the Times-Journal needing tickets can come by the paper and pick up tickets. On that night, four people can enter the game on one ticket from the Times-Journal. Editor Jonathan McElvy will throw out the first pitch of the game.

On Saturday, Aug. 3, American Apparel will have family night for all of its employees. American Apparel purchased 500 tickets for all of its employees and family members for the game.

On Friday, Aug. 9, and Saturday, Aug. 10, Peoples Bank and Clean Machine Rental will hold family night for all of their employees.

The last home game of the season falls on Aug. 11 against Baton Rouge, and the Cloverleafs organization is currently working on something special for the game.

“Every Sunday is church day, and the fans need to remember that if they bring a church bulletin, they get in at a special discounted rate”, said Noopie Cosby, part of the Cloverleaf’s ownership.

“This year, we had to try,and do things at a hurried rate, and we did not get some of the things accomplished that we intended to do. Next year we intend to focus a lot more on the outlying communities, and work with them to bring more people in for the ball games.”

Cosby said that would help the team and also help boost tourism in Selma.

“The local businesses and the community have been great with helping to support the Cloverleafs. We have been able to sell all of ad space in the programs and the billboards in the outfield, not to mention we filled all of our inning sponsor spots, too,”

he said.
