Beatrice C. Johnson

Beatrice C. Johnson, 94, of Selma, died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at St. Paul CME Church, 808 Minter Ave., with the Rev. Winston Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two daughters, Josie Caldwell and Stella Williamson; five brothers, Ellis Craig and O.C. Craig both of Los Angeles, Calif., Artis Craig of Chicago, Albert Craig, and Arthur Craig of Birmingham; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, David Williamson; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Cora and Shirley.

Active pallbearers are grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers are his brothers.

Family visitation will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

George Leonard Melton

George &uot;Pete&uot; Leonard Melton, 88, of Temple, Ga., formerly of Selma, died Monday, July 21, 2003.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Al. Finch officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Suther Melton of Temple, Ga.; children, Bernice Elaine Ramm of Poconos, Penn, Martha Louise Reinoehl of Temple, Ga., Joseph Leonard Melton of Rowlett, Texas and Walter Allen Melton of Temple, Ga.; and one brother, Marvin Melton of Selma.

Family visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Melton was born on Thursday, July 24, 1915 in Perry Co. He was the son of the late Benny Lee Melton and Rosa Bell Oakes Melton. He was a retired owner of Tractor Company and a member of Draketown Baptist Church.

Florence K. Hatcher

Florence K. Hatcher, 62, of Selma, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at her home.

Services are at 4 p.m., Thursday, July 24, at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. F.D. Reese officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Hatcher; one son, Albert Hatcher Jr.; three daughters, Cynthia West, Silvia Freeman and Sandra Hatcher; three brothers, Frank Kelly Jr., James Kelly and Jeremiah Kelly; four sisters, Mary Sewell, Amanda Jones, Annie Cunningham and Violet Kenan; 10 grandchildren; three sons-in-law; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Lucy Callens Kelly.

Active pallbearers are nephews, deacons and cousins.

Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Crusader Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hatcher was a retired school teacher.

Eleanora Annis Stogsdill

Eleanora Annis Stogsdill, 63, of Camden, died Monday, July 21, 2003, at her home.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Survivors include a daughter, Cecilia Carter (Greg) of Palestine, Texas; sons, Fred James Stogsdill of Plano, Texas; sister, Patty Ratliff; brother, Eddie Goebel; companion caregiver, Rick Trexler of Camden.

Mrs. Stogsdill was preceded in death by her father, Fred Goebel and mother Majorie Sellers.
