Robert Brown

Robert Brown, 79, of Coatopa, died Sunday, July 14, 2002 at a Northport nursing home,

Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Coatopa, with the Rev. Wesley Winston and Minister Mitchell Brown officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral of Demopolis directing.

Crystal Harbin

Crystal Harbin, 17, of Demopolis, died Saturday, July 13, 2002 at a Miami, Fla., hospital.

Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Morning Star Baptist Church, Demopolis, with the Rev. James Dunn and the Rev. Nathaniel Carter officiating. Burial followed in Jerusalem Cemetery, Gallion, with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.

Jim Polk

Jim Polk, of Houston, Texas, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Riverview Baptist Church in Miller’s Ferry. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery in Camden with Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home of Camden directing.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Polk; daughter and son-in-law, Beth ad Greg Johnson; a son, Frank Polk; grandchild, Katelyn Johnson all of Texas; his parents, Ottis and Tootsie Polk of Camden; brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Cindy Polk of Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Roy Robson of Georgia; and a host of numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Polk was born on July 11, 1946 to Ottis and Tootsie Williamson Polk.

He graduated from Wilcox County High School. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Addie Johnson

Addie Johnson, 98, of Marion Jct., died Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at a Perry County nursing home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.

Jesse Grant Porter Jr.

Jesse Grant Porter Jr., 71, of Selma, died Friday, July 19, 2002 at his home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at Church Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Sedberry officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hulsey Porter of Selma; daughters, Debbie (Ben) Turner of Selma and Sherry (Bobby) Knight of Montgomery; step-sons, Dennis (Donna) Hulsey of Wetumpka and David (Jan) Hulsey of Selma; step-daughter, Susan (Steve) Dykes of Farmville, Va.; sister,

Mary Anne Stroud of Auburn; grandchildren, Jeremy Turner, Brett Turner, Russell Knight and Clint Knight; step-grandchildren, Kyle Hulsey, Jacob Hulsey, Madison Hulsey, Gillian Dykes, Hannah Dykes, Austin Dykes, Wendall Wood and T.J. Wood.

Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his parents, J. G. and Louise Porter, his first wife, Wanda Wilson Porter and a son, William Grant Porter.

Active pallbearers are Ben Turner, Bobby Knight, Dennis Hulsey, David Hulsey, Steve Dykes, Jeremy Turner, Brett Turner and Russell Knight.

Honorary pallbearers are Church Street United Methodist Fellowship Sunday School Class and Kiwanis Club members.

The family suggest memorials be made to Cahaba Hospice or Church Street United Methodist Church.
