Fun-loving, kind, caring–these are just some of the terms that family and friends used to describe William Joshua Campbell and Blake Michael Allison, who lost their lives Saturday after their car collided with a tractor trailer on U. S. Highway 80 on Saturday.
At 9:40 p.m., Campbell, 17, of Plantersville, the driver, along with Allison, 20, of Selma, were driving east-bound in a GEO Tracker automobile on Highway 80 when their car collided with a tractor trailer, towing a tanker, said State Trooper Chris Ellis.
Ellis said the tractor trailer, driven by Ronald Matthews, 23, of Arcaida, La., was making a left turn when it collided with the car, which went directly under the tanker, killing both occupants in the vehicle.
Both occupants were pronounced dead on arrival, and were transported to the Lawrence Funeral Home in Selma, while Matthews suffered no injuries, Ellis said.
Tammy Hatfield, Campbell’s mother, said Campbell and Allison would be fondly remembered by all those who knew them.
“Joshua was always fun-loving, kind, and always so easy to get along with,” said Hatfield. “He was also very out-going, always had a smile on his face. The both of them were just the nicest people you could ever meet. Both were also real jokesters.”
Frances Ross, Campbell’s aunt, also recalled Campbell as being a jovial person – “someone who loved rap music and was very outgoing.”
Hatfield said both Campbell and Allison worked at Wallace Construction in Selma, and that Campbell last attended Martin Middle School before taking his present job.
